The seats do not swivel. It was a 2+1 configuartion in the coach with seats facing each other. The fare was about RS340.

Can anyone tell me how to book a cabin for couples in Shivalik Deluxe...I tried doing it from IRCTC but the only option is AC chair car but the website says that it does have Cabins for couples...

Go to www.irctc.co.in
Register your self
Then go thru the Plan My Travel process
The station codes are KLK and SML
Choose FC First Class as the class of travel
You have a choice of two trains only that have first class with closed private cabins:
1 KS Passenger
251 Express
Note: Shivalik Delux does not have FC

When I travelled on FC First Class in 2006 there were no private cabins.

The only thing you got was a comfy seat and a meal at Barog which consisted of a vegetable cutlet, bread, minieral water biscuits and tea or cofeee.

The food was good but the journey even better. The only dissapointing part of the journey was the end as the touts tend to be very annoying.

Firstly, i want to say an amazing site and great tips.

I my wife, sister and mother are going to Shimla in March but i want to book the Shivalik Palace Tourist Coach from Kalka to Shimla.

How do i do this? Which website? It doesn't seem possible from Indian railway site.
