Kalka Shatabdi express train connection...

Hello

Still working on the trip from Delhi to Shimla.
How reliable is the Kalka Shatabdi Express (Delhi - Kalka) at getting in at 12:00?? With the Himalayan Queen departing at 12:10, would this be pushing things a bit much?

Anyone with any experience with this connection, would appreciate your thoughts (and yes I'm aware that the Himalayan queen departs Delhi a little earlier).

We got these trains with no problems at all, in fact we got to Kalka early (i think this is the norm to allow time for the connection). Most people tend to use these two trains so i assume the Himalayan Queen will wait if the Shatabdi is late!

it is a connecting train, which means the second trains departs only after the first train reaches kalka.

You might find that the ""Himalayan Queen" departs some time after the arrival of the Shatabdi.
We waited an hour!! No big deal but now you know you will catch your train.

I do not think the narrow gauge HQ is a connecting train for the Shatabdi. Its a connecting train for the broad gauge HQ, hence the "toy" train may not wait if the Shatabdi is delayed.

I was going to answer the same but load of people got in first. The Himalayan Queen will wait.

I took the overnight Kalka Mail from Delhi station (as opposed to New Delhi) which was pretty good and connected early in the morning and it did the same thing.

Anyway, they have to allow time to change otherwise there would be uproar from the platform sellers who would not get chance to sell you their wares!

What I believe is there are two trains arriving at Shimla in the summers between 5 and 5:30 ... so for the shatabdi arrives at Kalka at 12noon and The Himalayan Queen at 11 .... The Himalayan queen connection to Shimla on the Narrow gauge is relatively slow .. the other train I keep forgetting names is a bit fast by maybe 45 mins .... anyway the best source is the Indian Railway site ... and yes steven ....

The IR website does not show all the trains on the Kalka-Shimla route.
A far better site for the rail timings on the K-S line is http://www.ksr100.com/Trains.asp

We are going simla manali trip and wish to take KALKA SHATABDI from delhi which reaches kalka at 11.45 am.From Kalka we wish to book ticket in Himalayan Queen for Simla.I wish to know that if by some reason Kalka Shatabdi gets late at kalka station then would Himalayan queen will wait for kalka shatabdi passengers?Is it connecting train between Kalka shabdi and Himalayan queen? There is only 25 minutes to catch this train after shatabdi reaches Kalka station.Please reply fast as I have to book tickets for this train.
