Is it Safe to travel via bus to Manali in January

Dear all,

i am planning to visit manali before 10th jan, mainly to see some good fresh snow and hopefully snowfall too

what i need to know is that Is it Safe to travel via bus to manali ? i will start from Chandigarh on 7th night and will reach manali early morning and taking the bus manali mail volvo...kindly guide as i read at alot of places that it will be slippery roads + too much of fog....kindly help

Word of advice, make sure your bus has heat so you don't freeze. We made that mistake on our honeymoon. It was a very cold, long trip.
My brother-in-law swears by volvo buses, perhaps just make sure the company and bus is good prior to booking? With the elevation though I imagine the roads would be quite winding and a bit slick...

In hills you wont face fog , fog occurs in your case in plains of Punjab moment you enter Himachal border there wont be any fog except near bank of Satluj and Vyas river
I never heard that due to fog any accident in himachal , road is made of coaltar not mud how it will be slippery and there is no way its snows too much and your bus drive on it you will be stuck whreever you are but then again if you too afraid why even get out of house

So, akashsach and jn.rounak, did you guys take the Manali Mail Volvo then ? If so, how was your experience ? Any idea how it compares with HPTDC or HRTC Volvos ?

i was mainly going for snow and skiing but as fellow indiamikers said there is nos now so i cancelled my plan, though my bags and everything are in packed status and as an it will start snowing am gonna rush again

manali mail volvo is not oprational that day, the volvo is arranged by City heart Travels
Nice volvo bus (2x2), comfortable seats and bus is on time!
this was my first volvo journey
