How's Snow on Rohtang Pass this Year ?

There is virtually no snow at Rohtang. There was some at Kunzam on the sides but not much interference with the traffic. I was on Kunzam and Rohtang on 26 Sept. coming back from Kaza.

we crossed the Rohtang on the 30th of September from Manali on our way to Leh with no problems, Weather looks very good.

Yes ! Chances are quite high....

Next week, after the 20th but deffinitely before the 25th the road from Manali to Leh would be open for general traffic.

Read on IM that the trip to Rohtang Pass should be undertaken very early in the morning (sunrise) --- is it advisable 1st week of June this year since general traffic just begins then?

Even now you´ll have a lot of traffic from early morning - this is 90 % the day trippers up to the highest point accessible , coming to see the snow. Last year it too me six and a half hours up to the Rothang ( around fifty klicks ) , where I unloaded my bike and pedalled down the other side , with breaks , in about two. This was third week june.

Hi Kirtik, Please remember Rohtang Pass would be closed for road maintenance every teusday. Going to Rohtang very early or at reasonably early hour is okay but do not panic as you are on a holiday and you just want to visit the place. You can even start after breakfast and return in the evening.

Yes, even now we have loads of traffic but luckily this year we have the police manning the road which helps in keeping the traffic moving.

No pass is still closed due to recent snowfall look at leh.nic.in for latest update.

its very much open dear, but still barachla pass is to opened by BRO team, expect the same around 1st week of June...
