Question Hey Antrek need ur advice!!

dude u've been posting awesome info abt rohtang & the rd to leh - thanx a ton. while i intend to do the manali leh rd sometime in june - Im taking my cousins (small kids) to manali on the 24th i.e in 2 days time. Im a bit surprised that rohtang has opened up so soon this yr!! Now my prob is I'd promised the kids, they'd get to see lots of snow - which now seems unlikely at lst at rohtang!! so plz lemme know if i shld hire a jeep & go a little further to catch some snow & whether its gonna be worth spending that extra bit at all. plz lemme know soon - thanx in advance

Hi MK, The Rohtang Pass is unofficially open !! Yes, we go to the Pass right on top by jeeps. For this, one has to start at 0300 hrs. Infact Sabby (one of the forum members who has also written into this thread) went to the Rani Nullah 3 Kilometers short of Rohtang on the April 26th. He is travelling back home and may be would write in the real story.

Hi Naushad,

Thanks for Updates once again. Its very hot here indeed 42 degrees on 27th April, 2006 in New Delhi, so i would not be amused if Rohtang La opens much earlier this year. Yes we are looking forward for Sabby's story.

Thanks and keep us updated.

Hi Members

Site is up and running. Thanks to Arjun once again.
So, what's up on Rohtang. I've read in Tribune that Rohtang La has officially
opened on 8th May, 06.

Cheers to Arjun

Rohtang opened for tourist cars on the 7th of May and the bad road to Keylong was done by 40 jeeps every day. The Commanding officer is working on the Baralacha Pass and has conveyed that we can cross the pass to drive to Leh from tomorrow the 13th.

thats good news,
even after snowfall in recent times, they opened rohtang la quite early.
it seems there is quite a lot of people waiting this year to cross it and going to leh.

Oh Yes, Rohtang is crowded like no body's business. These days, (up to July 15)I would never go there !The only thing I would do is cross over to go to Lahaul, Spiti or Leh.

Cheers

well i read it will be heavily crowded in june ..... whats the actual scene like on the road to Rohatang La now?

if things go that way i will land in Manali on 27th june and wud love the road to be a little less crowded as i have been yearning to roller skate down from Rohtang to Manali......
Manali fellas please post what u see on this road these days.

cheers,
Amyl
