Would you also be keeping yourself abreast with the happenings on the Hindustan Tibet road circuit? Any news with the Palling Nallah?
Palling Nullah ! where did you get that from ? do you mean the Nullah near Samdo and the Malling Nullah at Parachu because there are more names to a place. Well the Shimla to Kaza road is all open. You have the govt. buses moving around there.

Thumbs up

Hi Antrek,
No updates since 12th April.
What's up there in Manali ? Temp. had dropped a bit here in Delhi. It seems like higher areas had experienced snow once more.

Yes, the weather went bad since the 15th of April. It snowed every evening over all the high passes, including the rohtang, Baralacha and the Tanglang la.

The temperatures dipped like hell.

It has stopped snowing and raining today. The clouds are breaking a bit. Non of us here has lost the hope about the route to Leh would open soon.

Best Wishes.
Naushad.

I mentioned this on the other thread..Rohtang has had 50CMs of snowfall this week..work has slowed down. BRO had an original target to open the road by first week of April..it has now been pushed back to May first week.

Lets hope for the weather to improve..even if it means more swealtering days in Delhi!

Heavy snowfall is going on when I am typing this.
But it may take another two weeks to get fine for vehicle to move more than MARRI.

Traveling-Trekking-Climbing

Few days back- I came from MANALI. Went to check up preparations for oncoming COMPANY OPERATIONS .

THIS road we are talking about is very un predictable and every year lives of people are being gambled by some people sitting in MANALI. As lot of money is there...so wrong information is generated....I still feels that TRAVELING IN MAY on this road is risky as u never know..a slight change in weather in atm. pressure can create havoc.

Some places prone to get problems are: ROHTANG PASS,BARA LACHA-LA,TANGLANG LA,PANG AREA.

Yesterday, we went to Rani Nallah wich is 3 Kilometers short of Rohtang.

It is risky to even drive or walk in Delhi or Mumbai, going North of Manali in May should be alright, we do it every day !

Hi Naushad,

I visited rohtang on 27th August 2005, and I was not able to found snow anywhere. It was all gone. Although there were some Ponymen, who assured me snow some 1 - 1.5 kms towards east of Rohtang La. I did'nt tried their offer. But i was amazed to find snow at Rani Nullah a small piece about 50 feet lenght and 15 feet in width. I think Rani Nullah is Glacier which turns into beautiful waterfall as summer comes.

How did you reached Rani Nullah ? Had BRO Cleared the snow upto Rani Nullah ?
We are told by other members that it's heavily snowing right now. pls. keep us updated.

Thanks

Not really sure about Rohtang but Just back from Kinnaur after being drenched in rains and heavy snowfall the weather is just been unpredictable.

hope it settles down sooner.
Atleast the Delhi weather has become cooler.

Hi, you see we have many villages in Lahaul which is beyond Rohtang. So the local people have relatives on both sides. The BRO allows such movement. The road is open till Rani Nallah, after that the locals walk over the Pass and take another jeep to their respective village in Lahaul. This is done like this - start from Manali at 0300 hrs and reach Rani Nallah by 0500 hrs. Then walk for an hour and take another jeep.

This kind of thing is allowed for serious adventure lovers like you and me. At the moment The BRO does not want anybody up there after 0800 hrs. They do not want the tourists to know about this either other wise the tourists just stay up there and get drunk and block all the road.

Cheers.

Naushad, I am amazed. I thought no one crosses the mighty Rohtang La when army has officially closed the Pass. I really want to visit Rohtang especially at this time.

Thanks for Info once again and pls keep us updated.

Cheers
