Hello Max, Where do u get your bike serviced/repaired? In Authorised Service Centre or any Knowledgeable Mechanic u have ? I am from Gurgaon and here we have two Authorised Service Centres but both have heavy rush of Customers and they can't provide good service to everyone. Mk |

No bikes only 4 wheel drive jeeps
I stopped riding bikes since the last few years.
The 3978 meters high Rohtang Pass would open for vehicular traffic on the April 25. AND this year, I would drive the first jeep to Leh which means over the 5100 meters Baralacha Pass and the 5380 meters Tanglangla on the morning of May 10, 2006 Do you want to jump in ?? Cheers.

Well, I am there practically every second day, I live in Manali and every body wants to go to rohtang Pass all the time, I have four jeeps which are heading North of Manali every day and a team of 25 staff / guides who work in the North of Manali. Thats how this is current and actual info. Today, the road clearing machines have reached the Beas Nullah which is 2 kilometers short of Marhi from Marhi Rohtang is 16 Kilometers and all of it is not heavily snowed in. The snow clearing machine clears about 2 Kilometers a day this means in 10 days the machine would reach Rohtang by the 22nd April then the Aemy officer would check the road, then they would find parking for the cars. So 25th can be the safe reaching date to Rohtang AND beyond Rhtang too we have snow clearing machines working at Baralacha , Lachungla and at Tanglang la. Anyways this story is too long I must cut it short infact try to... then I have a seasonal base camp half way to Leh at Sarchu that happens to be the oldest, biggest and the very best since the last 15 years. And I send more than 1000 travelers to Leh driving on this road every year. This is why I know this. Cheers. |

I hope with you around, we can expect some Logistic Support on the way and at Sarchu Camps. BTW do you know who runs the camps at pang? Last time i went i found tents at pang better than at Sarchu, and i felt the stopover at Pang more comfortable. Any good hotels you would recommend at Keylong. I normally like to have 2 stops at Keylong and Pang. Can you give us some info about fuel (Petrol / Diesel) supplies on the way. How much should one carry in a Can for a Scorpio ? Your recommendations would be really appreciated. Styler |

At Sarchu my camp has proper beds and a tent is provided for two people, attached toilets, good coverings and generator poered electricity. Pang is 4600 meters high and Sarchu is 4200 meters every thing above 4000 is hard very hard for human beings. Thus do loads of water atleast 4 liters and use some electrolite poders all the time. Keylong has many Guest houses some of them are really good and is at 3300 meters. You would find a place of your choice to stay at Keylong very easily. Even Jispa 35 Kilometers North of Keylong has a good Guest house. Deisel / fuel - you do not need to worry about at all. The Scorpio has 55 liters fuel tant and Manali to Leh is 485 Kilometrs. To be safe you could refill on the way at Tandi 7 Kms. short of Keylong and 110 Kilometers from Manali. From Tandi you would have 55 litres of deisel and 375 kms to reach Leh. No need of carrying the messy deisel saperately. |
