Honeymoon trip schedule - need suggestions.

Hi,
Ritesh there are plenty of buses from manali to shimla.In manali you wont be able to go to rohtang in feb,but you can go to kothi,solang valley,and maybe upto gulaba and marhi.The toy train is good for people who havent been to mountains that often,i personally get bored in the long journey.

The exact dates for my trip is not yet confirmed. I am planning to visit by end of 1st week of May. Any idea of how much time in advance i need to book or do reservation for Bus(Delhi-Manali Volvo), Hotel & Local transportation? kindly suggest.

You need to book ASAP as Holiday season in most parts of india begins by 15th April.

Last year we booked our volvo seats from mumbai by middle march for travel date in the last week of may and we got the last seats which were a pain to travel in.

So moral of the story - book as soon as you can fix your travel dates.

Let me chime here.. its going to be really crowded during the month of May!

While coming back from Rohtang Pass check for para gliding option.. its quite a thrill.

BTW: Which hotel are you going to stay at Manali?

On transport, hiring a private taxi/car would be a better option than looking for buses or shared cab.

"Mani" and "host" thanks for your suggestions.

I prefer to go by VOlvo bus from delhi to manali and return compared to cab, but anyhow i will be hiring a cab for local site seeing.

Hotels in manali, i have couple of options from which i will chhose one (Sarthak Resorts, Hotel Kunzam or Hotel Beas). I am searching for contact numbers of "Hotel Island and Hotel Patalsu" in Sollang Valley or any other good budget/delux hotels, if any of you have, kindly post them here or PM me.

Here is the schedule.

Day 01: Chennai - Delhi - Manali
Chennai to Delhi Flight Arrive in the evening
Volvo Bus at Delhi to Manali.

Day 02: Manali
Morning arrive at Manali, check in to hotel.
Afternoon half day city tour visiting
* Hadimba Devi Temple, Manu Temple, Vashisht Village (3Kms) and Tibetan Monastery.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 03: Manali - Manikaran(85kms) - Kasol - Manali

Naggar (Naggar castle and few temples)
Manikaran (Optional Visit) (Famous for Hot Spring)
Any other place???

Overnight at hotel (Manali).

Day 04: Manali - Rohtang Pass - Sollang Valley
Full day visiting

* Kothi, (12Kms)
* Sollang Valley.(13KMs)
* Rahala Falls (16Kms)
* Palchan(Whispering Rocks),
* Rohtang Pass (51Kms) and

Overnight at hotel (Sollang Valley).

Day 05: Sollang Valley

Complete day rest and if possible a local site seeing in and around the place of stay in a relaxed pace, probably by walk.

Day 06: Sollang Valley - Manali - Delhi

Just to relax till afternoon and return back to Manali.
Board the Volvo Bus in the evening to Delhi.

Day 07: Delhi - Chennai
Catch the late afternoon Flight to Chennai.

Hi rkarthikeyan,
1st week of March will be safe for atleast Volvo bus and hotel.I think local cab will be not a problem. There are lot cabs in Shimla and Manali.You can get one after reaching also.

Where will this HRTC Volvo bus scheduled to start from? which location in delhi and from where in manali?

I am coming to delhi and returning by flight, so advice about Delhi airport - bus starting place? and vice versa.

i am now in manali. for u, i will search some hotels in solang valley.i didnt find hotel patalsu.any way this will help you.

1.ice land hotel
solang valley.

room rent-500 per day(may be higher in may 1st weak,i am not
sure.)

2.hotel snow nest.

room rent-may be same as ice land.i didnt enquire the rate.

i visited ice land hotel , the room is quit decent.and also both the hotels were located in solang valley(opposite sides).

very best locations from both the hotels. today,i visited.snow is covered around the hotels and valleys looks very beautiful. but, i didnt stay there because my wife felt that place was cold.

food also prepared in hotels.but,first weak of may will be very less snow in that valley(may be). i am not sure. i visited yesterday and today.today the snow was melt down largely in the slopes.

so, if u want to see the snows in solang valley,if possible,dont delay your programme.

i will send the itenearay for u after march 2.

Have you thought about Delhi-Kullu by air. At least one way
Air Deccan has flights. Will take stress out of long bus journey

if anyone plans to take a flight to kullu then be prepared with a backup plan as well. I was scheduled to take a flight to kullu but it got cancelled at the eleventh hour, but since i had sufficient buffer in my itinerary i was able to take an a/c volvo to manali without disrupting my plans.
