Honeymoon in Simla on Feb,10

Hi Folks,

I am very new to this forum.I have been planning for my Honeymoon on this coming Feb & couldn't get much information about what I am looking for or rather I can say, I am flooded with so much of information that makes me confused

.Then I heard about this forum & found lots of active discussion going on.

Here is some information what I have chalked out thus far:

>> My trip will begin from 30th of Jan to 13th Feb (inclusive to & fro train journey )

>> We would like to know which are the places will be still REACHABLE at that point of time.

FYI: I am planning to get a CAB booked for the entire trip once we will reach at SIMLA (From KALKA we will take SHIVALIK train

)

>>The places which I have planned to visit are: Kufri,Fagu,Chail,Narkanda,Kasa uli,Sarahan,Manali

>>Please suggest out of all the names mentioned above, which are really worth visiting on Feb in terms of ACCOMODATION,WEATHER & of SCENIC BEAUTY.

>>I am also looking for some good HOTEL info (HPTDC & some other Hotel as well) for the above places which definitley serve good services, NON-VEG food & proper HEATING system.

That is good idea, May be you'll see snowfall in that dates. you can book a cab from shimla itself, Regarding HHPTDC's hotel, i think they can book a hotel by phone also Or you can find a good hotel with view yourself in Shimla.

It would be snowing around Feb 10 and this year we expect a good one as we did not had any snow last year. If it snows reaching Sarahan can be a little tricky because of snow at Narkanda. I suggest do not book accommodation at these places. In case the roads are open, you can always book on phone from Shimla. From Kalka come down to Kasauli first and then to Shimla and onwards. HPTDC hotels do not have central heating but they provide room heaters and can be chargeable at some places. Plan your stay at Kasauli, Chail, Shimla, (Narkanda and Sarahan if weather permits) and Manali. At Shimla avoid the HPTDC hotels. They do not hold any value because of the off season. You can get hotels at good prices on the Mall itself.

@Vasuki According to your ADVICE; STAY at SARAHAN & NARKANDA could be out of scope if SNOW plays a SPOIL SPORT!!! Keeping all these in mind I can plan my ITINERARY covering the following places: KASAULI,SHIMLA,CHAIL,MANALI. That's it!!!

But, can I expect good amount of SNOW FALL in any of the above mentioned PLACES? (Just to have a feel of IT!!!)

I will keep SOME DAYS in hand for SARAHAN & NARKANDA (if REACHABLE AT ALL) & otherwise I will visit some other places in stead of those such as FAGU, KUFRI Or stay at longer period in any of the above mentioned places...(Depending on the scenario...)

What about FAGU,KUFRI?Are that WORTH VISITING?OR Palces just for LAZY WALK,ROAMING AROUND?!!!...

Welcome to IM!

Fagu is very close to Chail, and there are people who say Chail is unnecessarily hyped and Fagu is much better (esp. views from HPTDC Peach Blossom). There are people who would die for Chail walks as well! I saw in some internet post that Fagu Peach Blossom was under renovation, and the person posting it didn't have a good time (was it Anupji on bcmtouring?), so please check beforehand.

I guess, being your honeymoon trip, you would not indulge upon hard trekking, except for walks. If you've time in hand, walks in the jungle trails around Chail or Sarahan can be very refreshing.

Kufri IMO used to be a good unadulterated spot once, but no more so now. It has a Zoo, and a horse-sh*t-ladden walk to some place (I don't remember the name), and that's that!

I presume, you would have a month's time from Jan beginning onwards to gauge the snow scene and take a call.

P.S. World is so small, after having smoke and coffee with you outside the office about 6 months back, now we meet in IM!

Thanks all for your quick RESPONSEs & ADVICEs.

Now it's high time for me to FINALIZE the ITINERARY. I will make a ROUGH TRAVEL PLAN keeping all the inputs coming from your side & discuss later.

I will NEED your VALUABLE comments again in future...

@INDRACAL: I can foresee our FUTURE,couple of months down the line, again we are having GR8 time with SMOKE & COFFEE outside the DLF builiding...cheers!!!
