Shimla is great place to honeymoon and start new life.
You can visit a lot of other places nearby.

Auli and Kufri are great too, but, there is lots of snow.

i dont think auli is closed to shimla...

your stay will depend on ur budget..and also u dont have much time so i think it is better to pass more time with each other rather than travelling unnecessary

Shimla may be unpleasantly wet and foggy during this time. Depends upon monsoon arriving on time or not.
And no snow in Shimla in July at all.
You could proceed futher say to Kinnaur but in July again there remains the risk of landslides and road closings.

Visit Naldhera, Chail, Kasauli, Mashobara, Kufri whilst in Shimla.

I would recommend a night stay at least at Shimla Britsh resort (if its re-opened).. a small heritage hotel owned by some Mr.Ajay Goel from delhi.. I just happened to see teh place last december while exploring the hills on my own. spent 2 hrs seeing the whole place and taking pictures.. its very cozy, warm & hospitable.
