Hi

Hi,
Depending on what hike you are doing there can be ponies hired from ladakh any where at the trek head and the villages ... A good option in Leh is to get to Splash Adventures and speak to Nima about hiring Ponies ... The Ledeg office is also a good source ..

Cheers,

now i wish i had some more talk with her about her pony-hiring and probably pony-control ways in Leh....i wud have helped u Linn...alas!!

anyways there must be IMers coming to ur help with apt info...u hang on there!!!

Hiring Ponies

Dhananjay

We are heading for the Markha Vally then onto Zanskar (Is there any difficulties that you can see with this ) I may not go onto Zansker and choose to do something else depends on how i'm feeling.

Amyl
Did you manage to do any roller skating while in Ladakh? As for us Kiwi's we are special!
Thanks to you both for answering me

Hi

Hi,
The Markha valley hike is a great Hike ... Though I have not done it ... I have many friends who have and they have great memories of it .... the markha valley hike involves two passes ganda la approx 5000mts and gongmaru la 5200 mts ... you start from spituk and end at nimaling ... 7 days of walking ... the last day when you start from markha village you could opt going to zanskar from there and opt out nimaling ... from markha to padum is again an 8 day walk ...again difficult crossing three passes Zang la, shir shir la and rubarung la ... all three over 5000mts ... and river crossing s as well ... I would suggest doing the Markha valley trek first coming back to Leh ... resting a few days ... Traveling to Padum by Road .. visiting ... Alchi Lamayuru, Khaltse .. spending a few days exploring Zanskar ... and then deciding there if you are OK for the trek and attempting it ... also other options open up in ZAnskar ... you could do the classic Padum to Darcha (though opposite is a bit more taxing) ... padum to lamayuru via singhi la and namtse la passes ... or the padum to leh via markha ... or from padum to sarchu via phirtse la ... these all are great hike s ... I have done only the Phirtse la which I found a great walk ... However Padum is a great place and you will enjoy ... Keep the options open and dont try too much if your physical energies are exhausted after Markha ... Happy Travels ...

Cheers,
Dhananjay
