Scooter ride!!! I almost fell from my chair. That's simply incredible.

It's good to know that there are enough people with out-of-box approach to their quest for adventure.

Keep hitting the highways

This is amazing.. Boosts my confidence like anything. If Chetak can go on these hights in March, I should be safe & fine with a Scorpio / Tavera in June.

Just back from Spiti. And yeah, I got permits for Shipki La and Kaurik too. As per the authorities, that might be probably the first civilian permit they ever issued.

dude that is awesome. who issues these permits. its supposed to be chinese border and all that hullabaloo about the security of nation blah blah.

They are issuing permits beyond Khab now?? last time i drove up i was told not to miss the left turn or get arrested. ha! that was in Puh when i asked about going up past Khab to the border wanted to see the start of Sutlej in India. was warned off. now they are issuing permits??

pl share that story.

How long ago was this? Namgya village has been accessible without an ILP for some time now.

Last heard, it was like from Nako all the way to Powari, the road was very bad with many landslide prone points. Bhawanagar to Powari was bad as generally. These were based on updates in third week of October . Ahead of Nako, except few points all fine, malling nalla was fine too.

Hi Uttam;

Just wondering if you would have any good reference to Old Hindustan Tibet Trade route (NH-22) all the way upto Chitkul. Would appreciate your help.

Thanks
NH-22 terminates in Khab not in Chitkul. Read more at here: http://mainyayavar.blogspot.in/2015/...to-chango.html

The km stones say Kaurik (which is inaccessible to the general public), and the GOI's paperwork says "near Shipki La".
