Himachal trip in Dec

Hi
I wanna make a trip to the Himachal in end of Dec. Have booked return tickets to Delhi. Need to plan the rest.
Being from the hotter parts of India (mumbai and Chennai), I am not accustomed to extreme cold weather. Howvever I wanna see snow. DEsperately.
Would McLoedgunj be a good option or Manali?
Need help with this.

I agree, Manali is the safer option. You would see snow there or thereabouts definitely.

Old Manali--I have been to Manali but I am not sure to what it refers?.
Does Old Manali means Manali Village or the area near Hidamba Temple?.
Could you give directions as to Old Manali from Bus Station?

The village, uphill along the Manalsu Nala. Where the Manu Temple is.
From the traffic circle at the end of the main bazar (in front of Nehru Park), turn left, and then keep straight for 1.5 km. U'll be at the bridge across the Nala, where the village starts/ends.

The area around Hadimba is known as Dhungri, or Dhungri Forest sometimes. Most locals just call it Hadimba.

That reminds me.......

Ok, done. For Mayflower, check here:
http://www.indiamike.com/india/lodgi...r-manali-t372/

Banon Resort
Super-inflated prices, I thought they'd be cheaper than Mayflower. In Oct '05 I was followed by a tout (yes, chased my car on his bike!), who said at one point he cud get me a room at Rs. 1100, about 70% discounted. Wasn't interested, but now that I think about it, maybe the web-site prices are deliberatley inflated to allow plenty of bargaining room.

Skiing at Solang Nala about 13 km away.
Do u like trekking? There's loads of info in this forum and the Trekking/Mountaineering forum. Take a look.

Places to visit: Naggar is nice for a day-trip if u want to see the castle and the Roerich Museum.
Jagatsukh is 6 km away. Old temple; other than that it's a hippie hangout.
Kothi is a short drive up the Rohtang road. Nice views down-valley and good for having lunch and lazing about a bit. If it's snowed properly, this is as far as the road will be open. Otherwise, u cud get higher up to Gulaba even. Good views, but only a few chai-stalls.
