Himachal tour report

Recently returned from Himachal Tour (10/10/10 to 22/10/10) Kolkata---->Chandigarh---->Manali--->Jispa---->Barlachhala Pass---->Back to Keylong---->Manali----->Manakaran---> Delhi& Agra----> Back to Kolkata

Features of the tour-
1) Manali is too much crowded.
2) Rhotang is lacking Snow. Snowfall started after we left Manali & caused problems to lots of tourists.Road to Rohtang is in very very bad condition.
3) Jispa & Keylong are suitable for one night stay.
4) Barlachhala pass had snow & the road was very nice.
5) Manikaran road & location is good.
6) Agra Tajmahal......what to say .... simply speechless.
7) Aakshardham temple is very nice. Though being not able to view other places of Delhi due to lack of time.

Hi Kousik, thanks for such a brief but informative report.All the snaps are beautiful but Beas-2 is the best,it's a prize-winning capture.Can try our luck with that somewhere! pl.keep them coming.

Nice Snaps Koushik, I like the Surajtal, though water is not much but that awesome colours of high altitude Himalayan glacial lake is amazing. Would wait for more snaps and detail experience on the trip.

Not much thing to describe the tour in words because many have visited these places & have good idea about the places.
Only thing I would like to inform that I am very much disappointed with the condition of The Manali ( HPTDC hotel at Manali). I stayed there five years ago & compared to that time the quality has detoriorated drastically. They had a good restaurant named as Chandertaal but now it is closed . Though some renovation work is going on, hope it will improve the condition.
Hotels at Jispa--- Padma Lodge (900/- per day,DBR)
Keylong----Deykid (750/- per day ,DBR)
Manikaran---- Sivalik ( 650/- per day DBR)
Car rent 1800/- per day, car was RHINO(9 SEATER). Hired from Mr. Saveen Kumar (9816311768). Earlier in this forum I have mentioned about him. He is very much reliable person & also arranges for hotel booking ( did it for me during this peak season) .

Even though places are known and common, people may expect different perspective while describing similar events or situations, so may be a breathtakingly beautiful Lahaul Valley or an awefull weather in Rohtang can be portrayed differently in different trip reports. Thanks for sharing the useful information.

Nice pictures.... The photos shows that the weather was excellent with blue sky which in this year very few tourist got it.

So far October proved to be the best month in terms of weather for whole 2010. Only one WD and once pass closure, rest excellent weather with blue skies.
