Sole - where in Himachal are you plannning to go - it is a fairly large state. Any how it will be pretty cold throughout Himachal in Dec- snowfall in higher reaches and some distant regions would be even cut-off

I was there last Dec/Jan & will be again this year. I was in Mcleod Ganj last December & although there was a sprinkling of snow on the hills high above Mcleod the weather was very pleasant through the day, like a hot summers day in the U.K. however at night the temps dropped to between 0-5 degs. most hotels will hire you an heater for a few rupees extra. In early Jan i travelled higher to Manikaran where there was frost on the ground in the morning but it was still nice warm & clear through the day, but again fairly cold at night, fortunately most of the hotels in Mani have "Hotbaths" from the "Hotsprings" so i ended up sat in the room of another IMer i met there, watching Zappa videos on his laptop with a whiskey bottle each full of hot water from the baths stuffed under our jumpers.................Ah Bliss!!!! Obviously it is imposible to know where & when it will snow, but i would say you are more likely to encounter snow between Shimla & kinnaur in the area around Narkanda.
I think your best route would be Delhi to Dalhousie (via Pathankot) to Mcleod to Shimla to Kinnaur. KK

Como estas amigo... The route that KulluKid has suggested is right. Fly to Delhi, take a bus to Dalhousie (or train till pathankot and then taxi to dalhousie), get to mcleod ganj by bus and then head to Shimla...

About the Kinnaur Valley...it's going to be very very cold there. We were there just a month ago and we thought we'd freeze to ice blocks. You can go to Kinnaur but the weather won't be good - there will be not much of sunshine, good chance of snowfall, nights will be bitter cold and not many places (hotles/ gueshgouses) would be open.

Think about this amigo... good luck

December is cold with the C regularly touching the freezing point. Snowfall is uncertain. Last year it started as early as end November and was one of the heaviest in the state all time but it could be just the opposite this year.

Kufri in all probability will have snow, so if u r keen on seeing that then its a 45 minute drive from Shimla mall...

hmmm

Well i would give it about a 70 -80 % chance of snow being there. Lot depends on the weather build up towrds that time frame as well.

We have had snow falling throughout Shimla today, so it will be snowing in many other places as well. It will be important to prepare for the snow in your plans.
