Himachal in Oct

Any suggestions for treks or places to visit or things to do during October? I know its not the ideal time to go, but I can't go any other time.

I love mountains, snow, ice, trekking, cultural experiences and photography.

It will be very cold at night so take ample blankets etc (unless you are staying in a proper hotel (£££) or are ok using hotel ones that have not been washed for months )

I went to Kasauli last October and it was OK during the day but at night it was freezing.

Hi
September and october are the best time to Visit Himachal in my opinion and i feel if you have a time period of up to 15 days then you can cover Shimla,Manali,Kullu,Dharamshal and all the places are beautiful and hope can meet your expectations very well..........

The kind of interest you have so try stay a bit away from city centre specially on the outskirts as far as trekking is concerned there are many trekking route around Manali and it all depends on your interest weather you wanna go for a trek covering cultural, wildlife, photographic aspect.if you wanted to see historical place the Shimla will cater you expectations……….Rintu

I totally agree Rintu. The Kullu/Parvatti valleys are quite a picture at that time of year when the leaves start to turn.

Hi

Hi,
October is a good month to do Himachal if you are comfortable with the chill ... I would recommend Starting from Shimla doing Kinnaur The Sangla Valley and the Ropa Valley ... Getting back via Jalori Pass to Kullu via The Uhl river valley (Barot, Jhatingiri) to Dharamshala ... If you want to experience some real golden autumn I would not stop you from traveling to Keylong ... It is amazing in that month ..... Rohtang usually closes around 20th of Oct .... Parbati valley is nice .....

Cheers,
Dhananjay
