Hill stations in July/August 2008

I'm thinking of travelling around Himachal Pradesh in July/August. How cold will it be there? Also, what is there to do in places like Ladakh and Shimla? Is it easy to get around?

Its great place to be in at this time - July Aug.

It is summer still, the weather is pleasant. The evening will be cool. You should be able to manage with the good fleece, and a shawl. Also, it depends on the altitude. I am sure Kullu and Manali are nice and pleasant at this time.

Higher altitudes may be very cold.

If you have to go then go.... Monsoons have a special charm in the hills....

But beware of flashfloods that happen quite often in areas of Himachal... Chamba and Kullu region can be good places to visit...

For other areas in the higher reaches... go with prepaprations... and if you dont have prior experience of facing torrents in Hills then avoid it...

One of my friend saw a flashflood in Manali.... and he said it was ferocious... and sitting back here its difficult to even imagine its might
