Which route do you choose?

Hi all,
I am planing my trip to India from the 22th July to 5th of August;We are going to Delhi and Agra from the first 3 days,then we dont know either go to Himachal Pradest or Uttaranchal.You can see my route for Uttaranchal in this link:

We think that Uttaranchal route is heavier than Himachal one..(transport,distance,accom odation..),do you think so?,so we have thought in the Himachal alternative..
On the whole,this is the idea of the route:

Delhi-Haridwar-Kalka-Simla-Kalpa

Day 25-27:Stay in Haridwar.Acommodation:¿?
Day 28:Arrive to Kalka and take a train to Simla.
Day 28-30: Stay in Simla,acommodation:Oberoi Clarke´s Hotel
Day 30-2:Take a taxi in Simla and going to Kalpa.Accomodation:Chini Bungalow
Day 3:Come back to Delhi

Which route would you choose?Which route do you think has better Himalayas landscapes?
Another important thing is to avoid moonsons,we have read that in the date we are going moonsons in uttaranchal are more probable than in Himachal!! Do you think so?

My only comment is that your Day 3 is going to be a very long journey starting in Kalpa and ending in Delhi. But maybe you can do it with an overnight bus from Shimla to Delhi.

Well, although we firstly thought about do VOF, finally, due to we are going to be in the North in moonson dates and everybody says that VOF will be under moonsons, we are going to go to Himachal (expecting less drizzle...lonely planet dixit)

The fact is we are also very interested in go to Haridwar, so our plan is reach this city from Delhi and then...

reach Shimla via Kalka. We've noted that there is toy train departure (Kalka->Shimla) at aprox 12noon, so our questions are:

1) If it will be easy to find a taxi driver who accept drive us from Haridwar to Kalka

2) We've seen there are 2 main roads: NH73 and NH72 (this last one troughout Dehra Dun). Both of them are about 210 km. Which is faster?

3) How long does this journey takes? (we'd like to leave Haridwar early in the morning and reach Kalka at 11-12noon, do you find it posible?)

4) Transport alternatives for doing the journey Haridwar-Kalka?

Finding a taxi is not a problem - you will get plenty. The on-road time would be about 4-5 hours. So to reach at 11am, you have to start early. NH72 is through more hilly terrain , but may have lesser traffic - i think best is to let the taxi driver choose.
Taxi is the most convenient option - bus is the other good alternative (would be much cheaper but you can't choose your starting time and allow for longer travel time).

Hmm, from Haridwar to HP??!! That is heavy! Either skip Haridwar, or if not, continue with the UA trip.
