Hi everybode. I have very urgent question.
15 December I arrive to Delhi at 3.30 morning. And I have to be in Dharamshala. What is the easiest way to get there? For now I have several possibilities, 1. To take a bus from Delhi to DS, where can I do this? How long does it take? Whats the price? 2. To take a car, taxi, whatever to DS. The same questions as above... 3. I found out a plain to DS or Patankot. Thare are flights to DS but not at 15 of Dec. But to Patankot with AirDeccan. Flight cost 1500 rs. And I think this is the most intresting variation for me. But the problem is, that I can not book this tickets, AirDeccan does not accept international credit cards If I would arrive to Patankot I think I would be able to take a car from there or bus. Who knows smthing about this. Can you give an advice, What can I do? Thanx a lot. |

Pathankot to Mcleod Ganj
Took train form Amritsar to Pathankot.. bus to Daramsala, another bus to Mcleodganj.. total of perhaps 6 hours on busses.. including transfer..
Not a bad ride, had the brakes on the bus not squealed to high heaven every time the driver had to hit them hard..which was often... Soo much fun when the bus shifts waaaay down when you start climbing from the plains... Yes there are busses from Delhi to Dharamsala.. but no idea of the cost,or schedule On outgoing trip took bus from Dharamsala to Dheradun...a rather pleasant 12 hour ride in a comfortable bus.. |

Hi
I took the bus from CP place. I think it leaves around 5:30pm and you get to McLeod Ganj around 7:00am. It cost me 550Rs (I think) or something close to that. The drive is ok...it is a bus. They started sleeper(the big red volvo's) last August. Friends took that said it was good...but cost more. PM if you need more information. Have a great trip. |

Thanks to everyone.
Still looking for really short way. I arrive to Delhi 3-30 a.m. so dont really want to wait there for bus at 5 p.m. I want to leave Delhi as soon as it will be possible. Now, I one of the plan to take a plain in Delhi to Amritsar and then bus or jeep to Dharamsala. Looking now for lowest fares. |

If cost is not an object, Jagson Airlines flies from Delhi to the local airport for Dharamsala (I think it is called Gaggal). I think it costs about US$ 290.

No, no cost is problem. But for me it seems what flight is cheaper. Delhi-Amritsar US$ 35 - 1550 rps. one way + from Amritsar a taxi or a bus. I plan about 1000 rps. total - 2550
But the taxi from Delhi to Dharamsala will cost 5000. Double price. I can take a bus, of course, from Delhi to DS directly, it will be 1000 perhaps. But only at the evening and I find it takes about 12 hours to get there, and Indian bus a bit extrim. Isn it? |

Best would be to take Deccan Air to Pathankot.
Taxi to Dharamsala. You may be able to book online thru arzoo.com indiatimes.com makemytrip.com rediff.com travelguru.com, or yatra.com Unless they all insist on your being an Indian resident. |

Bus to Dharamshala
Himachal Government has luxury buses operating from Delhi to Dharamsala. But the departure time is 8 pm. Would it suit you?

Pathankot airport became operational in November 2006. It is convenient for Gurdaspur area of north Punjab, Kathua district of J&K and Himachal Pradesh.
