Flying to Shimla - a warning

If anyone is thinking of flying to Shimla at the moment be aware that visibity is poor at present. The airstrip operates on visual flight rules with a minimum visibity requirement of 5000 metres. I flew in last Thursday and discovered later that this was the only (Kingfisher)flight that had made it in over a five day period. Needless to say my return flight was cancelled necessitating a 3.5 hour taxi ride to Chandigarh to pick up another flight. If you're not in a hurry it doesn't matter, but I was! And of course you may not get there in the first place.

Shimla is beautiful by the way, well worth the trip. As for the return journey well that was just part of the fun of travelling in this part of the world!

No worries! Haven't sorted out my pics yet but will try and post a few soon should they be on interest to anyone. Lovely place to spend a bit of time, regrettably I only had one night there.

I have been to the nearby places like Chail and Barog but gave Shimla always a miss as we find it too crowded.

Have you explored some of the pictures on Indiamike in the photo section?
