Fago - HPTDC Hotel Peach Blossom

Hi ,
Before Heading for Manali through Jalori today , Yesterday Night i stayed at Fago - HPTDC Hotel Peach Blossom.
It's one amazing placed, on top of a hill, it was extremely cold.
But the hotel has amazing rooms - very nice, great views.
Highly recommended for people who like "Off the beaten Track " Places..
All the people heading for Jalori, you can spend a night here. Its 24 kms from Shimla after Kufri...

Happy Journeys..

Following this thread with interest as I would like to find some nice places.

I can't second the recommendation of the food at Chail. I thought the selection was crap and everything was stale and oily.

Simply couldnt resist my choices of the best places in Himachal.
Chindi: Hotel Mamleshwar of HPTDC, the Manager Mr Sharma is the best of all the TDC managers I have come across. Willing to act as your local guide too.
Sarahan : The Circuit House, if you can manage. Palacial and very well kept. The Caretaker, of course, is a dampener.
Kalpa: The HPTDC cottages and the quite Forest Rest House, 5 Km beyond the HPTDC hotel. The best views of Kailash, Carry your food if planning to stay for 2-3 days in the Forest Rest House, Kalpa.
Barog: The Railway Guest House above the station.
Bye

All these places to stay are great Ideas. Thanks for making my trip easier, but.... Could anyone tell me what is a good map of the area. I looked in Seattle USA, and could not find a detailed one of North India. Globe Trotter looked good, but they did not have North India.
Thanks

Hi i just returned from a week long trip to Himachal, including Vashist, Old Manali, & Nagar.

Old Manali is totally deserted but for the Israili crowds...
Most Hotels and Guest Houses are empty.
Just reach there and you'll be king, you'll be able to get a room in any hotel you choose at 200-400. You don't need to make advance bookings.

A better option would be to stay in Vashist
Try Hotel Bhrigu. It has the the most spectacular views. I was there for 3 nights last week. YOu can contact the Hotel at 01902-253414. Speak to the Owner Hans Raj, he's a good friend. You can give my Reference...My name is Amit

I took the most expensive 4 bed suite...It's official Price is Rs 2200/= but you'll get double rooms from 1000 to 1600/=.
You can see some pictures of Peach Blossom in the other thread i started with pictures from my trip.

Next to the the Peach Blossom is the PWD Guest house. In that you could perhaps get a room for Rs 150/= to 200/=. I was originally meant to stay there but then when i saw peach blossom i forgot the rest.

Hotel Peach Blossom, Fago, Hotel Hiltop, Swarghat.

Here are 2 Pictures of Hotel Peach Blossom, Fago, 24 Kms from Shimla.
It is a great place to break your journey if you are heading towards Narkhanda, Rampur, Kinnaur Valley.
The 2nd Picture is taken from the window of the Room.
The Last Picture is of Hotel Hiltop, Swarghat.
This is a great place to stop if you are driving from Delhi to Manali with a 1 or 2 Stop plan.

I was crazy enough to try driving in to the sangla valley last january..had to beat feets of snow and huge land slides but could only make it as far as Karcham..reached there at 8:00 Pm and the only option available was the PWD guesthouse..stayed there for two days till the route back opened up again..but most memorable..the keeper cum cook cum guide was most helpful..

The guest house sits just above the confluence of the rivers indus and Karcham..and through the nights..the thundering noise of water makes for an excellent setting..

Hieeya Styler

Well to add up places in Keylong - you have just the very basic hotels with a costing of about maximum 500\- for doublebed room with all the amenities you can expect.

Not sure about the names of the hotels as just been in keylong last year around August on way to Leh.

But its real good if you do a Halt in Sissu HPTDC Guest house as it is offers much better view and is not a crowded place like Keylong.

Or skip Keylong and on go further towards Jispa. And Jispa has one hotel that offer calm and serenity. .. not sure about name posisble with Jispa Resort or smthin.

But depends on what time of the year you are going.
