Hi,
Won't it be a good idea for all of us Himachal Lovers to list our favourite places to stay in Himachal. Here goes mine 1. Vashist : Hotel Brighu, Best View in all of Manali and Around, Big Balcony overlooking the River Beas and Road to Rohtang. Great Rooftop Restaurant Basho. Private Parking for 5-6 Cars. cost Rs 300 - Rs 600 2. Manali : Johnsons Lodge, Heritage Property, Old world Colonial Charm. Sunshine Guest house, 3. McLodeganj : Hotel Pemathang - It has one of the Best Continental Pure Vegetarian restaurants ive been to. 4. Kasauli : Hotel Ross Common Annexe. Just 1 Double Suite and 2- 4 Bed Rooms in the annexe cottage. The 2 Bedroam Suite is very nice. 5. Nagar : Hotel Castle....I've not been here but i've heard it's good. I plan to stay here begining November. Please add on to these. Places in Shimla, more places in Nagar, Kullu, and Lahaul, Spiti, Keylong would be nice. And maybe we can include places in Leh too. Hope to see good suggestions of good places to stay soon. Styler |

We need to give a brief description of the place and what's good and bad about it. Let's not restrict it to just Hotels, We can have rented rooms with locals, Tented camps and any good eperience that IM members have had. Styler |

Chapslee Hotel/ Garden School (circa: 1835) in Shimla is worth a splurge for a night or two. It is near Lakkar Bazaar. Nice Raj ambience complemented with interesting indigenous decorative art.

Chail is 45 kms. from Shimla; takes about an hour and a half by taxi, on those mountainous roads. Visit Himachal Tourism's excellent website http://www.hptdc.nic.in for details.

I like KASAULI area as I live in my friends guest house....splendid experience.
I like SIRMAUR distt. as it is not tourist friendly...and air is still fresh and unpolluted. I do not reccommend MANALI,SHIMLA,MACLEOD GANJ as they are very much crowded places... I like AUT,BANJAR like places... |

Kala top forest resthouse near Khajjiar, in the middle of Deodar forest. Yum Yum. You can eat himalayas sitting there.

Not all those who wander, are lost!

In a rain shelter cozily in my sleeping bag with my bike parked across, sipping rum straight out of a bottle in spiti or kinnaur!

Best Place in Himachal :
That'll be a list now ! Nako : Obvious choice for me, overlooking lake and in summers the fields across the lake makes one wanders for the peace and tranquality of this place. ![]() Tabo : oh laa laa - the budhism, spread all over with a view of wonderful spiti river and those dry mountains across makes me drool. ![]() Sarahan : Best place to stay and feel is the sarahan temple itself. Nightstays start from 100Rs\- onwards depending on your stay. Offers best view of the peaks opposite side.. ![]() & ofcourse : Places from lower himalayas in vicinity of shimla & chail are plenty to go and hang over without a problem. Everyone has own choice but the one above are just mine favorite ones.. |
