Distance from delhi to Kalka by road

I want to know that what is the distance from delhi to Kalka by road because i am planning to catch the Kalka Shimla Express/251 from kalka i am arriving at delhi's IGI airport at 11:00 PM at night and the train's time is 06:00 AM. So, Is it possible to catch the train at 6 AM. I am hiring the Cab from Delhi to Kalka. Please suggest me so accordingly I will plan for the tickets of the Train. Thank you in advance,

Delhi to Kalka is around 280 Kms and will take around 5-6 hours.

Not Advisable. It would be cutting it too fine.

The HP Govt website link showing the various distances from Shimla is here:

It says Kalka-Shimla = 80 KM and Delhi - Shimla = 370 KMs

So I would take Delhi - Kalka to be around 290 Km.

I guess you'll cut it fine, but I've no experience on that road, so suggest checking with a cab agent, or wait for an IM Member to respond.

First of All thanks for all the replies. But still i am little bit confused should I go for the train and buy the tickets or I should go by road to Shimla.Please suggest me.

Kalka to Shimla by train is more than 5 Hours. But the route is scenic. By road it is around 2 Hours. TAke your pick.

An overnight journey from Delhi to Kalka won't be much fun. There's lots of large lorries on those roads at night, driving conditions aren't great, and there's a good chance your driver might not be wide awake. If you want to go by road better to do it by day. Better still get the Shatabdi from Delhi next day and connect to a later train at Kalka. Or you can fly to Shimla from Delhi on Kingfisher Red at 0755hrs most days - though only if visibility in Shimla is good.

you know what, I do not think you have got the relevant answers yet. Let me sum it for you, NO. It sounds almost impossible to me.

Think of delayed flights, luggage delays etc. And anyhow all flights have to wait for quite a bit before they get landing clearance in Delhi due to congestion. I guess 30 minutes is more like it at that hour.

Then, thing about possible traffic snarls, flat tires, other 100 issues that can crop up.

I am quite a peppy driver, and it would take me at least 5 hours to do this stretch.

It will take atleast 90 minutes to come out of Delhi then Delhi - Kalka traffic condition is not good.

My Suggestions is stay at Delhi. Take Delhi - Kalka train next day which starts at 7:40 AM and then from Kalka go by Taxi to Shimla.
