Other options for $5 to $10 include: Om Guest House, Yellow Guest House, Tibetan Ashoka and many others. You will have no problem finding a room at this price in town unless you go during the teachings. Even then you can get a cheap room as long as you arrive a few days early.

So I think I should thank each and everyone of you here for making my trip such a wonderful one. I had a time of my life on this trip but it had few turn offs as well. Mcleodganj being the biggest one. I think I was expecting too much from McLeodganj and it turned out to be little different or may be I could not explore this place as it should be.
We reached Mcllo on Thursday afternoon and explored the cuisines and the market area for sometime after having some rest. The next day morning we went to the Dalai Lama Temple & Tibetan Museum and really liked both the place a lot. It was quite disturbing to see the images of Chinese torture on Tibetan ppl at both of these places. After having our breakfast we started our trek to Triund and it took us almost 6 hrs to reach our destination. Having maggie and cheese omelette at Magic café was the best thing that we did on our way to Triund. A cup of Chai and a bowl full of Maggi never tasted that good. As soon as we reached Triund I was lost in the scenic beauty of that place. We then spent some time clicking few pictures, relaxing, met some new people, enjoyed our beer, had our food and went off to sleep around 11. The next day morning we started for snowline after having another bowl of Maggie noodles :P but couldn’t go beyond snowline café (3 Kms from Triund) due to poor health ( I started having cough and cold and one of my friend was going through the mountain sickness). We reached back to our camp around 11 and Mcllo by 4 PM. Took some rest, did some shopping and started for Delhi the next day morning. All in all it was an amazing trip for me and no doubt Triund was the place that took my heart away. The whole atmosphere there was mesmerizing and I am definitely going to be there very soon. It was not possible without you guys. Special thanks to Mridula, Mantru, Rajered, Harsha & ashukkb for all the info. |

Hi miki64, i just did Triund trek last month and based on my experience plz see below my answers to your queries
duration? - It took us around 6 hrs to reach Triund from Dharamkot. Dharamkot is around 3 kms from McLeodganj and if you cover these 3 kms by auto rikshaw/cab/bike then it reduces the trekking distance by 3 kms. Ideally it should take 3-5 hrs if you are in a good shape and having good stamina unlike us. cost? - If you are planning to do camping at Triund then there are two options available. You can take a pre-designed package from any of the trekking agencies at Mcleodganj. These packages may cost you anything from Rs. 600/- to Rs. 1000 on per day & per person basis. Or you can just take Tent, sleeping bags & mattresses & potter from these trekking agencies and can arrange food yourself at Triund which is easily available. We paid total of Rs. 2000/-(inclusive of 2 tents, 4 sleeping bags & 4 mattresses, a potter & food) for 4 ppl by using the second way. what to needs& bring? - Do carry some woolens & a torch + whatever you think you'll be needing. difficult? - Not much but a bit.. Cheers...!! Ankur |

Indizen, I have no idea. The one place where you get Pizza Namgayal Cafe. Unfortunately after waiting for an hour or so and still not being able to place our order we just had to walk off as we were starving by then.
