Hate to post dumb questions about weather, but I can't find any specific data on just how cold it is typically in December in Dharamsala. Thinking about going first week of December. Anyone have rough idea of typical Min and Max temps, as well as likelihood of snow?

And how far in advance is it necessary to book mid-range accomodation? I don't have any places in mind yet, so hope this isn't too vague.

Thanks!

I was there last December & will be there again this Dec hopefully. There was a slight sprinkling of snow on the high hills, daytimes were clear & dry with temps around 20-25 deg, at night the temps dropped to 0-5 degs. KK

That's not as bad as I thought it would be.... I assume it wouldn't be any colder in late February? Any snow left in Feb?
Sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma

This year in Feb there was snow in Shimla, but not D'sala. It was quite pleasant really.
Snow definitely visible on the peaks though!

My friend with me at the moment lives in Dharamsala and she says days are nice but nights are cold. I was there in Jan and did not find it 'unbearably cold'. Just the nights, needed good blankets and quilt and also a heater in the room. Dharamsala is quite a bit lower than places like Simla, Mussoorie or Manali and certainly doesn't get quite so much snow on the ground there.
Every cloud has a silver lining!
