Dharamsala - restricted area?

Is there a problem with visiting Dharamsala at the moment? I've just been told by the Indian High Commission in Australia that Dharamsala is a restricted area. Anyone been there recently or know if this is the case? Thanks

I think they are mistaken, I speak to my friends all the time up in Mcleod Ganj (upper Dharamsala), I think I would have heard something. Maybe they were talking about the cantonment area (where the army is) as being restricted.

But "NO" there are no restrictions for visiting there.
