Hi Friends,

We are planning to visit Dharamsala in the 1st week of May. I went through several old posts on the subject , got an overall big picture but i still have queries!

We have about 6 days in total. Should we make Dharamsala our base and travel to near-by places during day & return back to Dharamsala for the night stay?

I prefer to stay nearer to the city centre so that location is easily accessible and also safe. Could you please help me zero in on a suitable stay? When i did a search for the standard travel/hotel booking sites, most of them seem to show hotels in McLeodGanj/Bhagsu/Naddi etc. I understand these places have great views, however i'm focussing more on acessiblity rather than views for hotel stay. My budget is around 1-1.5k for a double room. Do you think i can find anything suitable in lower Dharamsala in this range?

Has anyone been to Dharamsala recently say in 2017? What are your recommendations on places to visit/not to visit based on current conditions of the places?

Thanks in advance for your help and guidance!

I also have a similar plan for Dharamsala during first week of May. I am looking for good travel agents at Dharamsala. Any information would be helpful.
