The earlier bus is more comfortable, the later bus reaches at a less unearthly hour. Take your pick.

If I were you, yogesh, I'd spend the night at Shimla, Kufri or Narkanda.

Comfort is not issue to me

I am running out of days for my trip. I am covering sarhan-kalpa-rakcham-chitkul in 6 days and i dont want to run just to cover more places.

Secondly, i want to avoid Shimla as it is overcrowded places and i want to cover off beat places

Your covering is spread too thin. I'd have gone straight to Kalpa and vegetated there. Then chitkul amd returned to Chd. See my report, there are direct connections between these places.

In which case, considering the bus timings, head to R/Pio and Kalpa first. Don't book in advance, head to the bus station and take the first bus out, which hopefully for you would be the 5.50 pm one.

Yeah, that's what I suggested in post 18, DW. I think he can do 2 days/nights in kalpa since first day after a long haul bus, the day would be spent resting.

3rd morning, direct bus to chitkul from kalpa.
4th day- round trip to batseri.
5th afternoon, last bus to peo from chitkul.
6th morning- deluxe bus to Chandigarh.

That's actually the routing? Relatively new service in that case. Or starts from R/Pio?

Nothing new compared to what you posted earlier. Let me put it in different words to vaibhav's (but same meaning, more or less) -
Changing hotels almost every night is no fun. Specially with two places so close to each other - Rakchham and Chhitkul. Stay at one and visit the other for day trips.

Yes!

That also means you didnt look through my Kinnaur Spiti TR. I was surprised too - there's a direct bus from Kalpa to Chitkul (leaves 8:30 am from Kalpa side - it actually comes from Peo to Roghi earlier than that in the morning, and then picks up passengers from Kalpa and goes to Chitkul - reaching by the afternoon).

In the other direction the bus leaves Chitkul in the afternoon and terminates at Peo.

So I thought he could do like a triangle sorta thing.

I'm still engrossed in your Kullu valley TR of 4 years ago.

But more acccurately, I don't have the stomach for long TRs nowadays, no matter how good they are. Nevertheless I have seen a few posts and pics about Spiti.

My only concern is there are only two buses that run between Peo and Chitkul, that's why i am staying at Rakcham.
Anyways from your recommendations i will make Rakcham as 1 day trip and will stay at Chitkul

Hmm, did you consult a map? The route up the Baspa valley is - Karchham-Sangla-Rakchham-Chhitkul. One way in, one way out. Rakchham doesn't have more bus options than Chhitkul.

Is there any HRTC bus available from shimla to narkanda in morning time? Or any private operator's bus will be available for the same route?
I understand these local buses start from lakkar bajar area, not from the shimla ISBT where the himsutra buses terminates.
Alternatively, is there any shared jeep available?

Why not take one of the Delhi-Rampur deluxe buses and get off at Narkanda?

Dilliwala ji, delhi to rampur volvo bus was not available, and the tata ac bus starts at 7:24 pm. This timing is not suitable. I cannot reach delhi isbt by that time. So had to book the shimla bus. Morning i'll take a shared jeep or bus to narkanda.

There'll be plenty of transport to Narkanda, but from Lakkar Bazar as you have rightly mentioned.
