Friends, i will be travelling to chail later this month. I assume there are no direct buses from Delhi to Chail. Someone suggested getting down at Kandaghat and taking a cab. I want to know which bus service (volvo preferably) would drop me in the morning at Kandaghat ? I mean, since i will be travelling with a baby, i want to avoid night/late-night/very-early morning drops.
Also, are cabs readily available at Kandaghat ? How much will they charge to Chail ? Just want to get an idea beforehand so that i dont get fleeced. Thanks for your patience and time. -DF |

As per the HRTC time-table there is only one semi-deluxe bus from Delhi to Kandaghat which departs at 21:00 and arrives at 6:00.

i think trevelling by shatabdi from delhi to kalaka/chandigarh or by hill queen express would be more comfortable.there is another connecting hill train from kalka to solan/shimla or may be stopping at kandaghat also.

Himachal Roadways VOLVOS leave Delhi at 9 and 10 pm and they reach Kandaghat at 3 and 4.30 pm. You will be arriving here in the middle of night. Haryana Roadways has a VOLVO service from Delhi departing at 11.20 pm and it reaches Kandaghat at 7 in the morning. Though a little early but you will be there by day light and definately get a cab at this hour.

i dont agree on timings, between delhi and shimla distance is around 400km.a bus leaving delhi cannot take such a long time 17 hours for shimla or kandaghat unless it is going by very long route or has very long stopage in between. your information on himachal roadways timing is not correct. a normal slow bus takes less than 9 hours.

Thanks friends for your patient replies. After looking at the options i had, i decided to play it safe and take the 10pm HRTC Volvo to Shimla. It should drop us in Shimla around 7am (is that correct ?) and at that time i should be able to get cabs to Chail (by assumption).
BTW, how much should a cab cost from Shimla to Chail ? -DF |
