Delhi-Mandi, which road to take?

I would be travelling in my car from Delhi to Mandi this weekend.
Which route is advisable - Chandigarh-Kiratpur-Swarghat or Chandigarh-Nalagarh-Swarghat. Need inputs on road quality and distances.

Chandigarh-Kiratpur-Swarghat is the better route. The Chandigarh-Nalagarh-Swarghat road is in realy bad shape.

Thumbs up Route

Delhi Chandigarh Kiratpur Swarghat route is certainly better maintained and has regular traffic than the other one.

Happy Journey !!

Completely agree, even though the traffic is more on the Kiratpur route, it is faster than the Nalagarh one.

Dilliwala, it's making sense to go through Chandigarh again, as the Ambala Chandigarh Road is now a cool 6 lane highway.
It again takes much less time taking the old route through Chandigarh now.
We had discovered and started taking the Banur-Kharar road when the Ambala -Chandigarh Road was closed for construction for 1 year.

Ah, ok. So you're saying the shorter Banur-Kharar road will take more time than via Chandigarh?

Kiratpur is a much faster route but the Nalagarh is a scenic drive, if you can ignore the apology of a road. It took ages but I am glad I drove on it at least once.

I agree, specially the climb section is good.
I really wish they'd fix it, it's an NH too boot!

To reach Mandi, the nearer Railway station is Kiratpur Sahib or Anandpur Sahib or somewhere else from Delhi. Car buses readily available at Kiratpur for Mandi. Please reply.

Take a bus from Chandigarh where most of them originate and fill up.
