Delhi-Chail-Delhi in one day, possible?

I along with a friend of mine are thinking of heading to Chail tomorrow, both of us will be leaving on our motorcycle and neither of us have any plans to spend a night there. So we are thinking of leaving Delhi by 5:30am, going to Chail and spend an hour or so sightseeing and then return to Delhi on the same day. Do you people think is it possible? Or are we trying to push it too far? Any one knows how’s the weather there?

Both of us have a cushion day, so if situation demands we might contemplate spending a night there. Both of us have the habit riding for hours on end and we did the ladakh trip together.

Take about 10 hours (at least) of riding each way.. makes 20 hours in a round trip.

So guess two days is more practical

On the last trip I along with another friend managed to reach Kalka in less the 4hours (cruising on the highway @80kmph. So if we can manage the same pace, we should reach Chail in 6 - 6 and half hour.

Definately doable till Kalka. The weather is playing freaky around Delhi...so you might wanna factor another few hours of reduced speeds...especually in the hills

Chail is almost as far as Shimla. Its only the last 30 Km or so that you go off NH. With your riding skills, it doable in 6 -6and half hrs . Weather at Shimla is pleasant, can do with a half-sweater in the mornings and evenings (cloudy but no rains). I guess chail would be similar.

Rohan your right and on most of my trips weather does play as spoil sport

Rajeev that’s why we want head to hills to enjoy a little bit cold weather. Hope the weather remains nice, just had a word with my buddy, we will try to make this a one day trip but we won’t push our luck and skills too far.

All ready and will be leaving in some time. Most probably will be spending a night there, since the weather is going to play spoilsport

Came back last night at 10:15pm, 797kms of pure fun. In the end there were three of us, Shamik, Faiyaz and I. Since Shamik came stright from office, had to drop the idea of doing it in one day

Rest of the pic, videos and writeup coming up in a couple of days.

Gorgeous roads combined with a brilliant sunny Sunday brought the poser out of me ..
