Dalhousie to Manali on 24th december - advice pls

Hey all

Im planning to head to Manali from Dalhousie on 24th/25th after i finish the YHAI trek..

Whats the best way to get to Manali from Dalhousie and how long does it take??

Are there any direct routes, because it appears that i need to go to pathankot and then board a bus to manali!!!

Is it better to hire a taxi, is it shorter that way and what will be the damage on my purse??
Are the roads safe to commute?

Dalhousie to Dharamshala / Dharamshala to Mandi / Mandi to Manali.

You do not need to come back to Pathankot. It is a different route, perfectly safe.

You need to book your place in the trek on http://www.yhaindia.org/program_bookings

trek starts on 19th December, there will be a batch starting every day until the 5th of jan.

You cannot join the trek if your not a YHAI member - but becoming a member is easier than eating your favorite piece of cake - one year membership is 100 bucks and 2 years is 200 bucks - options are found in the YHAI website - You get a confirmation online and you can book a place immediately

Word of Caution : The seats get filled easily and only limited number of people is allowed.

How much do you think it will cost by taxi?? And how much bus??

And also.. Is it snowing in Manali?? Especially in solang valley as i planning to put in some time skiing if possible..
