Hello folks,

I have just booked flights to delhi on 25th of may, arrival at 8:40am.
Return is on 31st May 5:40pm in the afternoon.

I have booked an innova for all along the trip @13rs per km...
Please suggest an suitable itinerary for these days covering dalhousie khajjiar dharamshala kangra etc...including hotels.
As i have been really late in booking flights I could understand that best of the hotels would be fully booked by now...suggest some alternatives please.

Regards
Saiki

Have you checked HPTDC hotels? Please have a look at: http://hptdc.nic.in/ohrs/PublicPages/PubHome.aspx

These are good hotels, I believe.

Btw: Some queries:
1. Arrival flight on Delhi? Then how are you planning to go to Himachal via road or train?
2. How many days you want to spend in HP (Dalhousie, Khajjiar, Dharamshala)?

Regards,
Aneek
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

McLeodganj has a flurry of Guest Houses and Hotels. Not sure of the really high end ones, but you should find a place easily. I would recommend to stay at Bhagsugnag little further of the hustle bustle of Mcleod.
Khajjiar, there is Hotel Devdar by HPTDC, the PWD Rest house [If you have contacts] and the Kalatop Forest Resthouse [You can book without any contacts, for Kalatop you ll find details on this forum] Just in case, nothing works, there are a couple of guesthouses in Khajjiar also.
Try covering Chamba also if you can.
Have a great Vacay!

Aneek I will arrive at delhi at 8;40 am...and move on with the car to mcleodganj first...12 hrs drive though.
If I start and could reach on the same day will stay around HP till 30th morning...that would make 5 nights.
30th evening i will be back at delhi.

I have checked HPTDC hotels and most of them are full, like hotel devdar at khajjiar is fully booked during that period.

Any idea how would be Hotel bella heights or spring valley resorts at mcleodganj?

Regards,
Saiki

Okay,
1. Reaching Dharamshala on the first day will be a long drive, yes. Also, you have to consider some variables as your flight don't delay. You start ASAP and halts in the road will be very less. I guess you will be going via Pathankot? Nice place to have evening snacks at any Dhaba . We had lunch there in one Dhaba. Awesome!!
2. If you are willing to stay at Upper Dharamshala, Mcleodganj then HPTDC doesn't have any rooms as it seems. Since you have your own car booked you can stay at lower Dharamshala. Hotel Dhauladhar (HPTDC) has rooms there. If you book ask them if they can provide you a room with facing Mt. Dhauladhar.
3. 30th evening to be back at Delhi means you have to start very early from HP.
4. I don't have any idea on those you mentioned. Please check the ratings and comments on TripAdvisor for those.

A sample itinerary could be like:
Day 1 - 25/05/17: Delhi to Dharamshala. Night stay at Dharamshala.
Day 2 - 26/05/17: Dharamshala sight seeing. Like Dal lake, Naddi, Mcleodganj Dalai lama monastery etc. You will get top things to do in Dharamshala in this forum or TripAdvisor. I don't think after this you will get a chance to visit Chamunda Temple or Kangra fort (if you search properly you might find some treasures - folklore over there). Night stay at Dharamshala.
Day 3 - 27/05/17: Dharamshala to Khajjiar. Things to do: https://www.holidify.com/places/khaj...ngs-to-do.html. If you start very early though. Night stay at Khajjiar.
Day 4 - 28/05/17: Khajjiar to Dalhousie. One hour drive give or take. Check the 'Things to Do in Dalhousie' in TripAdvisor or search this forum. Night stay at Dalhousie.
Day 5 - 29/05/17: If possible and if you love snow, visit Sach Pass. This is a full 1 day trip. But you have to start very early. Night stay at Dalhousie.
Day 6 - 30/05/17: Dalhousie to Delhi as per google it's almost 10 hours journey. So plan accordingly.

I believe, for booking in Khajjiar, you have to try very hard. You can skip spending night at Khajjiar. People might have different views but I believe, except the lake and the valley, there is nothing much to see.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Aneek

Thank you very much Aneek ! Much appreciated with all those informations.
I would like to stay in upper dharmshala, like closer to the main square of mcleodganj.

Will skip khajjiar night stay.

Shall I plan to make a halt or break the journey on way to dharamshala on 25th ?
If yes then please suggest where shall I break and spend the night ?

Thanks
Saiki

I stayed in Hotel Dhauladhar in 2013 and I must say this HPTDC hotel is very well maintained. Mcleodganj is 9kms from Dharmsahala and its so overcrowded that I didnt regret staying in Hotel Dhauladhar. Book a hotel which is further from the main chowk of Mcleodganj to actually enjoy nature.

I also echo the same thoughts. You can do a day trip from Dalhousie to Khajihar and Chamba and do night halt at Dalhousie. There is nothing much to do in Khajihar.Chamba temples are a must visit though.
You can also do a day trip to Jwalamukhi and Kangra Fort from Dhramshala. There is a museum in the Kangra Fort premises, its worth a visit.

Hi,

Is there any specific reason for that? You can always visit Upper Dharamshala from lower part. Upper one is very crowded and I can assure you that you will feel the nature better from the lower part. But if your heart wants to stay at Upper Dharamshala, go ahead. Don't break your heart..

Yes, If I were you, I'd definitely skip that (mater of fact I did once ). Instead, do one thing, visit Kangra fort and there is a temple called 'Jwalamukhi' in Kangra region. You can visit that. But the temple has a very long queue.

Discuss this with your car driver once. If he is confident then there is no meaning to stop and loose a day.

Aneek
