Couple trekking around Manali So my girlfriend and I (20 and 22 respectively) are taking the evening bus from Delhi on Monday. We plan to spend about 13 days in Himachal and want to escape from the last two months of traveling (mainly cities like Jaipur, Mumbai, Chennai, etc). We're essentially looking to have a laid-back, relaxed, may i say romantic time up north and would love suggestions. We're also looking to do some trekking. 2-3-4 day treks at a time probably. We're planning to spend a day in Kasol as soon as we get there in order to meet some friends. Is Kasol a good area to be based out of in order to do what we're planning to do? We'd sure like to see some absolutely beautiful places and aren't completely averse to making longer journeys. Leh is an option too but it's hard to tell what the scene is like over there. Basically, we'd like our tranquility when needed, beautiful clean mountain air, friendly people, decent food and accommodation (we try to eat and live cheap, it gets us further). A bit of a party scene with fellow travelers won't be too bad either but nothing over the top. Any suggestions? We'd be really grateful.

I haven't been to Kasol but have heared some complaints that certain tourists (who specially like this place) can be very noisy. Thus if you are looking for tranquility I'd rather suggest Naggar whrom where you can undetake short nice treks. In Naggar there is not much of party scene, but Manali is nearby and there you can get it.

altough I belong to the certain country that you mention and I DO resent the behaviour that you mentioned I felt the urge to answer your post. so .. 1.yes there are noisy kids coming from our country looking for the THC and partying. yes they can make noise but they are not different from tourist from xxxx that ruin every thing in their way after a bad football game, they are also not like tourist from yyyy hanging around drunk from 10AM. ..... they are young unpolite kids that will learn they way when they will grow up. 2.Not all of us make noise and from what you said comes to mind that we are like that and that and that. as in any nation there are more then one type of peoples. any way that what I had to say and I hope this will make you a little bit more forgiving. Have a nice day. ![]()

Absolutely, I can only agree with your points. And of course a sample does not represent the whole. Just seing that axeman is looking for a tranquil place and is considering Kasol I wanted to share the information which may affect his expectations. Hope I could convince you that my remark was not malicious.
