Fair

OK, here's another one. I see that the Gaddi Fair is in August. Anyone know if that's early, middle or late August? Does it vary year to year? Better still, anyone have the exact dates (it's 6 days long, I know that much) for 2009? Thanks!

OPtions are late May-June-July-early August. Thoughts?
It will be a brutal bus ride. I strongly suggest you take an overnight train (you have to sleep, save time and travel at the same time) from Delhi to Pathankot or Chakki Bank. You will then get direct buses to Chamba which shud get you there in 4 hours.

I understand it's also called the Bharmaur Jatra. More here, look under 'Fairs in Bharmaur'. Janmashtami date varies from year to year.

Hi, i am from chamba and it takes maximum 14 hours from delhi to reach chamba by bus, you should take direct bus from delhi to chamba 6 pm or 7:30 pm from ISBT Delhi. From Pathankot Bus takes avg. time of 5 hour(4 hour if in night) to chamba. There are many good hotels in chamba(but no one is star rated). From chamba Bharmaur is 65 km & bus covers it within 4 hours maximum and by taxi 2 to 2:30 hours. In bharmaur accomd. option are very few, private hotels i don;t think there would be more then 2 or 3, but there are Guest House of PWD and Forests. And yes roads from chamba to bharmaur are rough at few points(only) maximun part of road is good enough. After chmaba there is one petrol pump in bharmaur.

Trip to Bharmour

thanks a lot. I am still in the process of planning the trip. It is for research, not tourism really, so I have a lot of thinking to do, making contacts, all that. it is the first time I am coming (not to India, but to this region). so I very much appreciate the advice.
