Buses from Delhi to Dharamsala

Hi All

I know that this topic has been written about fairly extensively, however, I am wondering whether anyone can give me some information on whether there are any buses that depart from Delhi to Dharamsala in the morning?

My partner and I arrive at 4am, and really just want to head straight up rather than waiting for the overnight bus.

Can anyone shed any light?

If not, does anyone have any ideas (or friendly places to chill out with our bags!) about what we can do between 4am and 6pm while we wait for our bus?

Thanks for your assistance!

Regards

Hero

Bus to Dharamshala during day

Hi Hero,

There is a buss of Himachal roadways at 630 am but ordinary service direct to dharamshala.

Donot know of the private operators schedule.

But alternative is to move either to chandigarh / UNA or Pathankot but that would be a little longer.

Have a nice journey.

As far as I know buses to Dharamshala leave in evening only. But I may be wrong. You may check with Dharam of Blue World Travels at 9891716030. They run a good private bus service to Dharamshala.

Unless you both sleep very well on planes I suggest that you get a room for the day. Wandering around exhausted and lugging bags all day would be no fun.
Personally, I would get a room in Majnu ka Tilla the Tibetan area. You can get busses to Dharamsala from there, there are virtually no touts and it is a small relaxing little community. You will need to buy bus tickets in advance from a travel agent. There are several in Majnu ka Tilla and they all charge the same price. The one that Delhiwalah suggested is sure to be good and they may have an agent in Majnu ka Tilla.
Regardless of what you decide to do you should buy your tickets as soon as the travel agents open because sometimes the busses are full.
Do save some time to visit Delhi properly on your return if you have time. Perhaps you have done so on past trips…
