Budget Hotels in Dalhousie and Khajjiar

I am looking for good budget hotels in Dalhousie and Khajjiar for our upcoming trip in August, wherefrom the views would be good if not spectacular and off-season Economy DBR tariff would be around Rs.500 or less. How is Hotel Geetanjali in Dalhousie maintained by the HPTDC? I have planned the trip for the middle of August, and would like to know if the time is o.k. from the point of view of evading the monsoons.

What are the places that are a must see in Dalhousie and in Khajjiar?

Am looking for to-the-point answers, viz:
1. Names of a handful of good budget hotels in Dalhousie as well as in Khajjiar in the suggested price-range.
2. Recommendations/hotel review on HPTDC Hotel Geetanjali, Dalhousie.
3. Whether mid-August is fair enough time to visit Dalhousie and Khajjiar from the point of view of evading the monsoons.
