Booking Hotel Snowland in Keylong

Hi All,
I am from Bangalore. I am planning to go for honeymoon to Manali and Keylong.
We will reach Manali on 17th July morning. Planning to stay in a good hotel like snow valley resort and on 18 morning planning to go to Keylong and stay there 2 nites and leave keylong on 20th morning and spend the night in Manali and 21st evening leave for delhi.

So that is the itenary that I have come up with. Now next thing I am doing is the hotel bookings. Manali it is easy but Keylong I found a few hotels. I called up Deykid, there was no availability on 18th and 19th, then contacted Hotel snowland, A person called Ratan lifted the phone and said they have availablity. I asked him how do I book, he told me that he will take down my name and number and block it for me.

Somehow I am not confortable with just blocking with name. Can you guys please suggest me as to how do I book a hotel in Keylong. I have still not tried Tashi Deleg, Chandrabhaga or any. I am willing to spend up to 1000 per night and would like a comfortable stay. Please advise guys.

Thanks in Advance,
Nitin

Short of sending them a demand draft (SBI only), there's nothing else you can do. None of the hotels have online booking or offices elsewhere (except HPTDC). You can call one of the others to get an idea how things work in Keylang. I wud think given the circs it shud not be a problem if the dates are open.

Thanks Dilliwala,
I called up Tashi Deleg as I have heard it is one of the best in Keylong. They had 2 types of rooms one costs 650 another costs 1050, I asked him the difference he said not much only carpetting and some bathroom finishing... I asked him to book the 650 room and then did online transfer of 500 Rs to his sbi account.
So I am glad the hotel booking is out of the way. Now I need to worry about what places to visit near keylong.
As I had mentioned we will leave Manali on 18th July morning for Keylong and stay there for that nite and 19th nite and leave keylong on 20th morning for Manali .
Can you please suggest during the short duration how to make the most of it by visiting the must see places? Will there be snow in Kelong or Jispa in July? I am already so excited

Please advise...

Thanks in Advance,
Nitin

Hi nitin, good that it worked out. Yes TD is good, I've seen the rooms you mention. They also have a good restaurant.

Ok, you don't have a lot of time, so you can visit some of the monasteries around Keylang on the first afternoon. Even on the way there if you prefer, saves back-tracking. Here's a couple of threads with more info:

Monasteries in Lahaul

Next day I highly recommend a drive up the Pattan Valley upto Udaypur. On the way you can go 6 km off-route to Triloknath. Here's my trip-report from last year:
Manali to Keylang and the Pattan Valley
You can throw in Jispa before or after if you like.

There'll be no snow on the ground, you'll see it on the neighbouring peaks.

If you have any other Qs feel free to ask. Cheers.

Honeymoon in Manali and Beyond

Hi All,
My Honeymoon to Manali is fast approaching I have a few questions.
We will reach Delhi by flight from bangalore on 16th at 3:30 PM and I have booked the overnight volvo for Manali, boarding time is 8:26 PM at Kashmere gate, there are about 3 hours to spare in Delhi, Can you guys please suggest which place to visit. We will be carrying luggage also. I have heard of Akshardham so thinking of visiting it. would it be possible to visit Akshardham and be back in time to catch the volvo? And any suggestions for handling the luggage?
Please advise.

TIA,
Nitin.

nitin, Akshardham is clear across town, but you shud be able to visit it if your flight's on time. You will have to have your own cab though. Prepaid from airport to Akshardham is not a problem, but best you arrange for the same cab to take you to the bus. I'm not sure of taxi services available at or near the place.

Thanks a lot Dilliwala,
Few more questions:
On the 21st we are planning to leave Manali in the morning and come to Chandigarh, spend the night there and then catch the kalka Shatabdi on 22nd morning and arrive to delhi.
Are there luxury buses that leave Manali in the morning for Chandigarh? If yes Can I do advance booking for it on reaching Manali on the 16th? If not I will have to go the more expensive taxi option. Are there Taxis that go to chandigarh from Manali and take only a one way fare? where to find these?

TIA,
Nitin

re

hi nitin, i think its not advisable to go akshardham as it starts getting close as far i know ,it takes time to cover the whole temple and most importantl YOU MAY STUCK IN THE TRAFFIC WHICH IS HEAVY AND MAY MISS YOUR BUS.

nitin, the Manali-Delhi Volvo a/c bus itself goes thru Chandigarh, though I'm not sure if it can be booked to Chd. In any case there are other deluxe buses for Chd. If the bus is operated by HRTC, advance res. is poss from a number of places. Do a search, there's more info in other threads about Manali-Chd.

Thanks a lot guys.
I have another question. From Manali we are planning to go to keylong and stay in Keylong for 2 nights. Initially I was thinking of hiring a taxi for the entire trip from Manali to Keylong, visiting nearby places and back to Manali. I learnt that small vehicles cant really make it on those road hence we will have to book a sumo or something, which I think could be a bit expensive.
How about going by bus from Manali to Keylong and hiring taxis in keylong for the short trips there and then Keylong to Manali by bus again? Would we get place to sit in the bus? Is the journey by bus going to be absolutely terrible and hence should I consider taxi only ?
Please advise.

TIA,
Nitin
