Question Bikes in Manali and mo..

Greetings and salutation to all the good ppl of IndiaMike....i,m makin my first time trip with my girlfriend on the 1st of May for a week...i have decided to visit the kullu region and would probably b staying in manali..

i have a few queries

1. wanted to knw if i could rent at bike at manali and explore the region and the cost incurred for it

2....What are the places i must visit in the kullu region temples, valleys..etc...
is probably the most important question
and is there any better and/or cheaper places to stay at this time of the year and is Rs500 per day enough money for getting a clean room for 2 ppl

3. also wanted to knw how far is the bus depot from new delhi airport and what is the price of a/c bus ticket to kullu/manali or are there any alternative/efficient ways to reach manali (train to ambala etc...)plz recommend

P.s: guys this is a really imp trip for me ...and i really need your help to chalk out a good plan , so please help a fellow traveler
thanx guys

Wow! I'm getting a flashback just from reading your post!

Of course you can get a motorbike. It should be between 200-400 a day, depending on which bike.

Check this site for places around to see.

Sorry, but don't know the prices today. I would think around 800 for a bus from Delhi.

Hey

Have a good trip!

For renting a bike:

Life Adventure Tours
Model Town (near the Tel. Exchange)
Manali 175131
Tels: 01902-253825, 254494, 250239

Hotel! - I dare say I have never looked around for a hotel room for 500 bucks/day. I always find such hotels shady for some reason though I might be totally wrong. Would suggest someone else to guide you Re: a hotel within that budget.

Places to see - Nothing much really in Kullu to be honest. An old mall road or two but its really crowded. Then again I have never looked ard Kullu so I might be wrong. I always head straight to Manali. Check out Solang valley, Marhi, Kothi and Naggar Castle, Old Manali. Pay a visit to Vashishth as well. Check if Rohtang Pass is open in May. I went to Rohtang in 2003 and it was open in April then. Not sure about this year. You can also go to Moon Lake if you have the time and budget.

Bus Station - Delhi ISBT ( Kashmiri Gate ) is about an hour or more from Airport. I would say its safe to assume 90 minutes travel time because of the traffic.

Volvo A/C Bus moves from ISBT at 8:26 pm. You can book online from http://www.sugamhimachal.org/hrtctickets/

Good Luck!

H

why are you stuck on Kullu? with a bike you should be free to zoom wherever ... check out the other posts more closely for options ... its a shame to say or believe that there is nothing to see really

Hi Naweed,
You can try Apple view guest house in old manali. We a group of 5 friends went and stayed there from 15th to 18th of april. The room rent is Rs 200 for a double bed.The owner provides with blanket and quilt. But it has no attached bathroom. It is very comfortable as well.

Hey! You might have given me credit for the above info, or at least linked to the relevant post, rather than do a bare-faced lifting.
Did you think I wudn't notice? Well, I did! I actually hoofed it to the agency (all of 25 metres!) to pick up their card, and what do I get in return? Piracy!
