Best Way from McLeod Ganj to Amritsar

Hey,

India Newbie here, anyone tell me the best way to get from McLeod Ganj to Amritsar, I'd like to see the golden temple and the border ceremony at Wagah. Do I need to stay overnight there? I'd like to come back to McLeod Ganj afterwards.

Can't be done on a day trip. You'll have to stay one night !

A Taxi/Bus from Dharamsala will take you to Pathankot in 3/4 hours.

Take 8102 Muri Express from Pathankot at 4:25 PM, you'll reach at 7 PM. Stay there and witness the Guru Granth Sahib procession in night at closure time.

Next day Visit the temple and repeat back the journey.

Entire journey can be done by bus too !

Is there any reason you would prefer bus/train as opposed to just a bus?

Bus journey may be tiring !

But it's doable and many people do it...

Trains have toilets; on the bus, you are at the mercy of the driver's bladder.
