Where were the yaks? Is it really possible to ride one?

Hi Wengerley

I rode one in Kufri. Just outside the Nature Park. It was dirt cheap for a fantastic experience.

My spouse was telling me all the time that we can ride a Yak "somwhere" in Shimla and BINGO!! Found 4 of them.. We picked the healthy ones!!

I have updated the blog with more information about the Yaks

The Indian Photographer (T.I.P): White Yak
and
The Indian Photographer (T.I.P): Black Yak

Very nice pics T.I.P.
I had always the impression that shimla was a crowded destination and never had any plans to see it. But your pics have certainly put shimla in the list...

happy shooting...keep posting

T.I.P, take a walk from the Mall to Himachal Pradesh University. It goes via IIAS, i am sure the photgrapher in you will find many things to shoot. If you are a foodie, try Jalebi at Baleugunj. Baleugunj is close to IIAS and HPU.
I have been to Shimla many times but couldnot make it to Mashobra. If You can capture the palce for us, it will be fine.
I uploaded few pics from my last month visit to Shimla. If interested visit:-

I really love yaks , but was saddened to see them down in Shimla . As you point out in your blog , they are way outside their natural habitat, and they suffer from it.

T.I.P. Great snaps! Where did you stay while in Shimla. We are going there in December and have not booked accommodation. Any suggestions?

Oh!! Shimla is actually a very crowded destination. Some say that this is the most preferred honeymoon destination.

Also it is the capital of Himanchal Pradesh so tourism and state capital work does make it very crowdy.

The Mall road, lower bazaars do have a lot of people walking.

However once you leave the Mall (main market area) and keep on walking to towards the Shimla Musuem, the clean part comes in.

My pictures also covered Kufri and Daldera

I had stayed in the Police Guest House.

I would not like to discourage you, however they say that December is not the best season to go. However if you are going for the Snow, do remember that it did not snow uptil February last year.

Shimla is ridden with guest houses and hotels. There are many..
I would not be able to recommend any one place.. (Sorry)
