Attention KINNAUR Lovers

What would the temps be like just now at Kalpa, Sangla and Chitkul ? many thanks to Dilliwala for your reply which came in no time, I felt like asking over the phone..
Reasons I was asking for festival dates in July end Aug is because I am hoping to be in Kinnaur/ Lahaul/ Spiti ( not all three valleys due to time constraints) and wish to take a dip into the local culture and / or a reasonable trek, hoping to do Delhi to Delhi in 10-14 days max,
what do my experienced friends of IM suggest?

Hi! In normal years in July in Spiti you have the festival of Ki gompa and Kungri gompa, the latter very interesting. This summer, with the Dalai Lama going to Kaza from 10 t 12 July, there could be changes. In Spiti you can do few days of nice, easy and cheap trekking starting from Langzą and ending in any of the villages you find on your way to Dankhar.

amdtraveller, it snowed till the pastures of Jangi, Moorang, Ribbba etc villages but not near the villages (where it rained). Its not so cold that water is freezing still mornings, evening & nights are quite cold. But its warm during daytime.
Pack in your warm cloths accordingly and enjoy!
Tcube, in July Jagro festival is celebrated in Sangla, Barang, Jangi, Moorang etc villages. Remember different villages have different dates. In Moorang they usually celebrate it on 14th,15th July. I am not sure about the specific dates at other locations. Jagro is a night time celebration where villagers lit wood-torch and then sessions on dance and dining ensue before village deity. Another festival which you can catch up is Phulaich at Rupi village on 2nd August. This festival is spanned over two months with every village in Kinnaur having their own specific time and it always starts from Rupi.
As far as treks goes, there are bevy of options:-
a) if in Sangla- consider for treks starting/ending from/at sanglakanda
b) If in Mooarng/Ribba- trek to Charang,KK parikarma, Climb to the Shivlingam etc.
c)If at Jangi- Go little further to Lippa and trek to Temcho lake
d)From Rupi- Think of venturing into Shorang-bhabha valleys
e)If at Barang- climb up to meberkanda to negotiate Harang ghati; trek to the natural shivlingam of KK is another option from here.
Trekking options are many, read it here:-

Besides, even Spiti is a very good idea as suggested by Voyager61 and the fact that HH.Dalailama is coming to Kaza for Kaalchakra during that time makes it more interesting but i'll agree with Dilliwala that its Kinnaur which is simpler to manage.

Uttam Beautiful pictures. At what time of the year did you visit Kinnaur? We will be visiting in May end when there will be no snow perhaps at the ground level. Have to plan again sometime later taking tips from you. Thanks.

Thanks Kakoli. If you are asking about time of taking these pics, it was during first week of Sept. Unless you climb very high on the ridge along chakha or there is freak snowfall during the time of your visit, ideally you should not encounter ground snow.bsa1996, no issue, pal.
. While at Chini (apart from chakha)one can take a walk through apple orchard and fields of buckwheat, Kidney-beans etc to Chandika temple at Kothi , Moastery of Brelingi, Kashmir village etc. See photos of these places here:-http://uuttam.multiply.com/photos/al...nd_Reckong-Peo
P.s. Kamru, Skibba, Jangi, Moorang as shown here are little away, over look these in the album.
