Any info on the road from Aut to Shoja

Hi,

Am driving to Shoja via Aut on June 17th. I believe that some sections on this road are quite steep.

Any help/info on the road, driving conditions and tips would be helpful.

Regards

Sanjit

I passed through this route last year in opposite direction so I was downhill all the time. But I don't remember it being too steep as well. This road is known for steepness while climbing Jalori pass which comes only after Shoja. The road is ordinary but positive thing is it is devoid of traffic altogether. Everyone goes towards Shimla via Bilaspur so you have whole road to yourself.

Not very steep

I did it in 2006 Sept

Its not all that steep, and its the BEST drive in the Himalaya that i have done to date.... thickly wooded all throughout and amazing views at the top...

As roopesh says.... very few to share the road.

Hi,

I had been on the Sainj - Jalori Pass Aut Road some time back.
I had posted some pictures of the road and Jalori pass in this thread

Back from High Back country roads of Himachal and spectacular Passes.

The ROad coming down from Jalori Pass towards Aut is pretty steep.
The ROad is drivable in any MUV like a Sumo, Qualis, Scorpio etc. It would be a little harsh on Low Sedans. The Road is OK but for 2-3 kms on either side of Rohtang Pass..

Shoja Trip

Great trip guys. Its a beautiful valley, the road is interesting to drive and has a steep section for about 5 to 7 kms before Shoja. Better to take a SUV than a car and you will do fine, I had no problems with my Pajero in handling this section. Feel in love with the place.

Left Delhi on the morning at 5.30 Am in pouring rain and arrived in Shoja at 6.30 Pm to a beautiful sunset.

Flowers in Shoja

Yes there were quite a few of them in pacthes all across. I tried to attach some pictures but I guess this site only accepts a certain size of pics and mine did not convert to the required standards.

You will find them at Shoja and more ahead of Shoja towards Jalori Pass and on the trails around Shoja.

Seraj Trip

How was the road through out? Can you describe the route in more detail? I lost you somewhere between Banjar and Ani. Thanks.
