Considering you're going to the area to walk around, surely you can manage the 3 km from Jahal?

They list a direct bus from Mandi, but that doesn't help you coming from Pandoh. Might help CA when she travels.

Hi there
Am on a trip at present and we can organise to coincide itineraries a bit later Kapil.
I think I read somewhere there is a rough road access up to Devidarh but the bus only goes as far as Jahal. I doubt that the Jannat HS gets their clients to walk with their luggage. But no doubt your phone call has sorted that one.
Pls keep me updated on any changes you make to your itinerary.

Had a call with them. It turns out there are buses from Chail Chowk to Devidarh which can drop to Jannat HS. There are two buses in the evening (post 4 pm, not sure of exact time).

Since I posted the previous message I remember seeing a video of some bike club visit to Devidhar and they drove right across the grass pasture in front of the temple......so for sure there's a rough track. Also today I saw a new homestay on the web: name of Jai Mata homestay. Cheaper prices than the Jannat. But the FRH seems the cheapest bet, maybe not near the road......
I'm about to check out the dates to see when we can meet up.....

The guy I spoke with at Jannat said rooms were available for 500-600 odd. Jai Mata seems similar too. The fellows at Nachan suggested that the FRH at Devidarh is rather small and quite a few homestays are available. Will check out in detail later.

Some time ago I checked their website(Jannat) and I have a recollection of around 2000. So I'm glad there are cheaper rooms too.
I hope to go up there around 18 th or 19 th and have to leave back to Delhi 24 th. So hope we coincide for a walk.

I plan to be at Parashar the week before. Maybe I can answer your questions then about it being feasible for you to get up there on public transport. From Rewalsar to Mandi yes, but AFAIK the bus goes as far as the last village before Parashar....about 6 km away. Unless they finished surfacing the road? Anybody know anything about that?
Kapil....is yr mobile the same number as last year? I hope at some stage I can get a SIM card and I'll be in touch by phone if I'm away from internet connection.

I'll arrive in Devidarh on 21st and leave on 24th mid-day. So we can cover some walks.

I'd called the bus depot at Mandi. They confirmed that that morning 7:45 bus goes all the way up to Parashar.

The number is active but the phone has died. Should be up by the time I'm in HP. I'll PM you an alternate number as well.

Great news. The fact that the morning bus goes all the way up will help me too.
Looking forward to meeting up.
