Accommodation in Shimla

Does anyone have a recommendation for a paying guest house or B&B in Shimla - something no more than Rs.1000/night for an extended stay? My fiance and I are looking to stay in Shimla for at least two months while he does his field work, and I'm hoping for a clean, comfortable place with wireless and access to a kitchen. We're currently in Delhi and are aiming to be in Shimla within the next week or two.

Why not check YMCA Guest House at the ridge just behind the Church.

Check out the Sunrise Ville Homestay in Shoghi Shimla. Shoghi is about 12 km outside Shimla on the Shimla - Chandigarh highway. The place should fit your budget and a nice option for long stay.

Thanks for both your suggestions. But the YMCA doesn't sound like it would meet my accommodation needs... and 12 km outside Shimla is 12 km too many. We need to be in the city itself in order for him to do his field work at Jakhu.

Shimla doesn't have a BB concept. Look for hotels or renting an appartment for 2 months. Getting a furnished appt. would be a problem. Narrow down your choices for hotels but access to a kitchen may again be a problem. Jakhu is a residential area. You may find apartment their for sure.

That's good to know. I was just wondering what my living options might be while we're there. We'll just stick with a hotel then.
