Question Acco in Manali

Just signed up on this site and putting up my first post. I am looking to visit Manali for the first time in mid June and would appreciate some suggestions on where to put up. Budget is not too much of an issue and would like decent comfortable accomodation. Have heard good things about the Log Huts of Himachal Tourism, Banon resorts, Johnsons lodge....just to give you an idea of what i'm looking for. But would like to be a little away from the chaos. Am also planning on a couple of days in Nagger maybe at the Castle hotel? Any help appreciated...

Karan

Thanks...I called the hotel and they are quoting 1600+taxes for a double room for a night. Isnt that a little high for this place considering I'm looking at booking 3 double rooms for maybe 5 nights or so or you feel its worth it .

Thanks
Karan

Thanks a ton, I will email Ravi and we will probably stay there for a couple of nights. I was actually referring to Mayflower Hotel in Manali which is quoting 1600+ taxes a night for a room. I was under the impression that a room there is less than 1000. Do you have any recomendations for lodging in Manali.

Thanks
Karan

Try the Himachal Tourism accomodation: Log Huts/Hotel Kunzam/Hotel Rohtang Manalsu/Hotel Beas.

Mayfair has started quoting very high prices in off season. I think due to change of management.

Agree with the previous poster.

If you want something a little different the Sunshine GH is a decent place to stay - old Colonial style place with good views from the balconies, garden and apple orchard in front, and a drawing room with old photos of the Bannon family on the walls.

I would agree with rotar the sunsine guest house is basically furnished but cheap clean & full of old world charm with beautiful gardens & apple orchards i stayed there last sept & will be doing the same this year. At nagar i stayed at a really nice guesthouse Quite a bit up the hill from the castle run by a french guy & his Indian family very nice people & atmosphere i can't remember the name now but it is mentioned in the lonely planet p.s. watchout for the enormous spiders (as big as my hand seriously!!!) kk

Hi, I am also going to Manali for few days for trekking. Thx for the info about the guest house. Sunshine guest house seems to be a good choice. I will call and check it out. I am travelling alone. Will the guest house quote a double pice for me?

I would guess it depends how busy they are. A lot of places quote a bit less for single occupancy.

hi tmcat.

as per my understanding, they charged 300 for the room. (it had a double bed.) i don't think it mattered to them if you were one or two people.

however, i did have a little heart-to-heart with the owner, who was a very gracious host and if you're on a real tight budget or you're planning on shackin' up there for a while, you could probably talk him down.

good luck and have a great trip!
