None whatsoever - we were two families with kids aged 5 & 6. However if you look at our itinerary , we had night halts at each place for a day or more - I think that acclimatized us.

Hotel Ravi
Main Bazar, Sangla
9418402838,9816187001,94185379 07,9805629666
If you plan to stay here , try for the rooms at the top floor that is at the back of the hotel.Beware that the hotel is in the main market place, hence it is a crowded area.
However the best in these parts is Prakash Guest house , however I donot have their contact details. Heard that Diamond Tours from Kolkata has a tie up with them.

Hotel Marble
Circuit House Road , Manali
01902 253267 , 252386
They have a website as well , you can Google it.The hotel is VFM because of it's rates and proximity to the mall. No views though just glimpses from some of the rooms.

Can you upload some pics of Chitkul and Kinner kaqilash as they are now? I would like to compare the view now with the view in April when I was there.
Thanks

Sarahan-Shimla driving time is about 6 hours under normal conditions (175/180 Kms @ 30/35 kmph). See the route on the lower part of this page.

It depends on no. of people in your group, if it's greater than 4, you may wish to hire Sumo/Tavera. Tavera would obviously be more comfortable than Sumo, and therefore, costlier . I guess Sumo would be close to 1500/1600 range, not sure about Tavera.

@Prasenjit, solicit your update about the rates of cars like Tavera/Qualis/Sumo, in case you have them or can arrange to get them thorugh your Driver/Agent since you're in the scene now.

We traveled till Nako in a Alto in Nov 2006 and went till Nako - and it was fine. No issues except one punctured tyre (after Kalpa, around Pooh).

EDIT: pg66, can we refrain from using SMS lingo like "wats", "u", "ur"? As IM is also accessed by members who has non-english mother tongue, such terms becomes tough for them to decipher. IM language is English! BTW, I just saw VSP asking one IMer if "KNW" means Khandwa Junction (KNW is the Station Code for Khandwa Jn.) - guess you got the drift?

No way that you encounter snow at end-Oct in Kalpa. End-Nov will also not be snowing, it is mid-Dec/Dec Week 1 when you can expect snow.

Vasuki, a veteran member of IM esp. related to Himachal is of the opinion that www.accuweather.com gives a pretty close idea of the weather conditions of HP, so you may want to have a look at it.

Best wishes!

Thanks Indracal
I shall be reaching New Delhi on 16 oct at around 10-00 AM morning . Is it possible to reach Shimla by same evening . I am planning to go by bus from ISBT DELHI to Chandigarh and then take a taxi to Shimla . Is it feasible or should I make night stay at Himachal Bhawan or any hotel at Chandigarh and move to Shimla next morning ?
Any idea about taxi fare (indica ) from Chandigarh to Shimla?
Can any one give information whether Delhi Chandigarh bus reaches ISBT SECTOR-17 or SECTOR 43 in Chandigarh?
thanks
