2 weeks in Himachal Pradesh
2 weeks in Himachal Pradesh
Hi there, I'm off to India for the first time at the end of March and have almost 3 weeks holiday. I'll be flying into Delhi and from there would love to head North to Himachal Pradesh. I'll have about 2 weeks to spend there, can you suggest any itineraries that would be realistic in this time allowing me to do some simple trekking, visit small villages, national parks, home stays etc? What priorities are there to see in this region?
For the last week of my trip I was contemplating flying over to Kathmandu to visit a bit of Nepal. Do you think it is realistic to aim to see parts of Himachal Pradesch as well as Nepal in 3 weeks? Would you have suggestions for 1 week visit to Nepal?
Any ideas would be much appreciated!
Thanks AliE

Hi
Dear Alie,
This is Naveen I am from Himachal and working in Delhi. March is the good time to be in Himachal and I can suggest you below itinerary for simple trekking, visit small villages, national parks, home stays etc
You can go to Dharamshala from Delhi by Volvo Bus and fare is abt INR 600/- only.
Delhi - Dharamshala (14 Hours Journey)
In Mcleodganj - Dharamshala
In Mcleodganj
In Mcleodganj
Mcleodganj - Palampur (02 Hours Drive)
In Palampur (You can enjoy Homestay)
In Palampur
Palampur - Manali (08 Hours Journey)
In Manali
In Manali
Manli - Vashisht (30 Min's)
In Vashisht (A Small village)
In Vashisht
Vashisht - Manali - Delhi (By Volvo Coach 12 Hours Journey)
I don't think it would be realistic to visit Nepal with Himachal in 03 weeks. In Himachal you can see small ashrams, villages, natural beauty, home stays, trekking and some adventure sports.
Please feel free to contact for any information.
Take Care,
Naveen

2 weeks in himachal are enough if you have a region to explore, you cant see the whole state in 2 weeks with your requisites.
I have a question for you, what is your style of traveling, is it for photography, primitive locations, almost unchanged society of people and villages ? i can suggest you when you answer these questions,
and where mcleodganj and manali are concerned they are touristy cities with lots of people and hotels.
