Yellow Fever

Is it advisable to have the yellow fever vaccine before travel to India? I read somewhere that you need it if you have travelled recently in a yellow fever endemic zone. I will have possibly been in Zambia for a day.

Is there a stamp in your passport showing your visit? That's all they have got to go on.

If there is, you might be advised to get the shot just in case, though its not a very pleasant one, and only a few places do it. Still, look on the bright side - you won't need it again for 10 years, and its better to get it done in a clinic you feel comfortable in.

Quote: What treatment is there for yellow fever? There are no medicines that are effective against this virus. Serious cases of yellow fever always need hospital treatment. As there are no products that combat the virus itself, the doctor can only treat the symptoms.

As Tim said, if you have a stamp on your passport from a yellow fever endemic country, they might ask for a yellow fever vaccination certificate. I was asked for one at Mumbai immigration when coming in from Uruguay (which itself is not a yellow fever endemic country) since I had a Brazilian visa stamp on my passport (Brazil is).

Thanks for this. There is a chance that while at Victoria Falls, we may cross for the day into Zambia. Will need to find out if they stamp your passport as i am sure it is just a temporary visa that you are issued with.
