| Hi everyone ![]() I'm going to be travelling to India in the near future for work purposes, so will be visiting an office. I've been reading lots about acceptable women's clothing, but these things are mostly aimed at women who will be travelling for pleasure rather than for work. Basically I'd like to know what I can wear whilst there - my office in England is very informal and we tend to wear whatever we like, but I'm aware that Indian offices may be much more formal. Also, whilst most of my time will be in an office, I would like to be able to wear light and casual clothing (I'm rubbish with heat) - so far I have some light cotton blouses that I will wear over tank/vest tops and some loose knee-length skirts with some smart sandals. Would that be acceptable do you think? Thanks for any help you can give me, it is much appreciated ![]() |

| Not a lot of issues .. Okay, first things first, you did not say where you would be visiting. But let me guess, it has to be one of the bigger cities, like Mumbai/Delhi/Bangalore . In an office, you could turn up in western formals, without any problems at all. Usual, trousers and shirts. Outside, just make sure, not to wear "exotic" stuff, specially while you are alone. Denims, Tees, are fine . Avoid late nights alone. I say that to my GF as well ! P.S. : Clothing would also depend a lot on your line of work as well, SO a traditional sector, like banking/finance would be more strict rather than say, advertising/media. |
